There’s something about snow that just invites play time. Skiing, sledding, snowball fights, building snowmen, even just taking a walk…all that pristine white calls out to us. One of the first things I learned to do on a snowy day is to make snow angels. It’s a chilly endeavor, and sometimes the snow goes right down your back, but it’s so pretty…and fun.

Today’s model is Style Mantra Eden. She’s bundled  up in all the colors of a brilliant winter sunset. She is wearing My Scene Masquerade Kenzie’s jacket, a scarf made by me, mittens clipped off of a Christopher & Banks sweater ornament, a Barbie fashion pack mini dress, Poppy Parker’s Poetry In Motion ruffled slip, leggings from a Barbie fashion pack and Mattel’s Kimora Lee Simmons’ boots. Her photo was taken in the evening, under the rays of a setting sun, in my front yard.

In Every Day There Is Time To Play.

Well, we’re getting down to crunch time. The holidays are in full swing. The house is decorated, the majority of the gifts have been acquired, cards have been sent out and many of the packages have been wrapped. With Christmas a mere week away, there are still a few things left to do. Cookies will soon be made, a few last-minute gifts will be shopped for and the remaining presents will be wrapped up and placed under the tree. Everything is falling into place.

Barbie Decks The Halls

Barbie Decks The Halls

Today’s model  is Gorgeous Greetings Happy Birthday Angel Barbie. She is wearing the blouse from BFMC Teacher silkstone Barbie, a  plaid skirt of unknown origins, silkstone Barbie’s black hose and a pair of boots from one of the holiday Barbie dolls. The “decked out hall ” in the background is actually the mirror over my fireplace mantle that is draped in artificial pine garland and laden with a multitude of holiday ornaments, lights, glass icicles and acrylic “crystal” bead garlands. A half-strength flash with a gauze filter was used to light the scene.

When I was a kid, we had a variety of different tree toppers over the years.  The earliest that I remember was a turquoise blown glass thing, shaped like an ornament with a spiked top. We had flashing stars and felt angels and probably others, but I’ve forgotten.  On my own trees, I’ve usually had a doll for the top of the tree and it always goes on last. I’ve had Tinkerbell, Barbie dolls in Santa style dresses and various different Barbie dolls dressed as angels.

Angel Barbie

Today’s model is Barbie – though I’m not sure which one.  She’s been the angel on my tree for a couple of years. She’s wearing the dress from Hollywood Premiere Barbie with some embellishments added: snowflake sequins, bugle beads and ribbon. She’s got a ribbon and snowflake button halo and the wings were salvaged off of an acrylic angel from Walmart, with snowflake sequins and crystals glued on and a hole drilled in it to accommodate the ribbon that attaches it to the doll.  She’s hung on the top (or is that the bottom? LOL) of my upside-down Christmas tree with some strong wire.

Let’s Get Physical

I grew up in the eighties and if you did too, then you remember the aerobics craze. Richard Simmons inspired us into jumping about and sweating off those pesky pounds. Jane Fonda had us believing that legwarmers look fashionable. And Olivia Newton John brought sexy back into our workouts. I found a little dollie this past week that brought all those memories flooding back.

Feel The Burn!

Feel The Burn!

Our little aerobics instructor is Angel Dal Biccy. She’s wearing her original outfit to work out in. I found her in a discount store called Five Below and she was way too cute to leave behind. Her photo was taken with me holding her up by her wee, little foot with the sky in the front yard for a background. The scene is lit solely by late evening sunlight.

I’m not really into baby dolls. Even as a kid, I thought they were creepy. (No offense to the baby doll collectors out there. Bygones.) Maybe it was prophetic, as I don’t have any children of my own. I like the fashion dolls that run the range from youthful teenagers to mature adults. It’s rare for any little kid dolls to make it into my collection. But there are a few exceptions.

Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel

Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel

One such exception is this little cutie. She is a Bratz Kidz Costume Party Yasmin. She comes with two costumes: a devil and an angel. Today, she’s dressed as an angel – she even has a wee, little harp! So darling. Her photo was taken on my picnic table in the backyard. The “cloud” she is sitting on is fluffy Christmas snow batting. The clouds behind her are the real thing. Her picture was taken in the evening, under overcast skies with a flash to light the scene.

Earth Angel, Earth Angel, Will You Be Mine?
