Ugh…I have no excuse for not getting around to the lingering remains of winter doll photos…except that there are just so many.

So, even though it is technically spring, I’m still in winter mode. And I probably will be for a while. What can I say? I still have more winter wonder to share…

The Gang At The Snow Caves

The Gang At The Snow Caves

You’ve already met the models, so see previous posts for the details. But the location is new. After all the shoveling, the snow piles were pretty substantial. Given such an opportunity, I couldn’t resist digging out a cavern and steps for the dolls. When the afternoon sun lit it up, a mess of dolls came out to play. The lighting didn’t last long, but it was enough to grab a few pictures. Woo- hoo!

A roof has been added to the ice house. Yay! There was trepidation for fear of a collapse, but it was unfounded. Some wet snow was used to seal the joins, and it turned out surprisingly solid. Woo-hoo! Onto the photos…

Snuggle Buddies Cruz & Poppy

Today’s models are Poppy (…yeah, you saw her yesterday…but today she’s brought a friend) and London Calling Cruz from the Dynamite Girls collection. Cruz is wearing his original trousers, a scarf that I crocheted for him, turtleneck and boots from My Generation Chip Farnsworth III and a Color Infusion: Style Lab Fashion Experiment 5 jacket. Their photo was taken inside the newly renovated Ice House in our front yard on the last day of January.

Okay, so I don’t usually go for the guy dolls. The only one I had as a kid was Donny Osmond….and he came along with his sister, Marie. A package deal. But, every now and then, one of the boys catches my eye. Here’s the latest…

What's Not To Love?

What’s Not To Love?

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls: In The City – Hot Stuff Cruz. He is wearing his original outfit & accessories. His photo was taken outside my hubby’s workplace in the morning sunshine.

I couldn’t resist Cruz – his cool hair, rockin’ threads, awesome sculpt, handsome face…I had to have him. He’s so photogenic and I’m sure he’ll look great paired up with any of the girls in my collection. But today he’s got the spotlight all to himself. 😉

Can you believe I took these photos on Thanksgiving? LOL 🙂

I took some shots today, too. But who knows when you’ll get to see those. 😉

The procrastination continues…

Ain't She Sweet?

Ain't She Sweet?

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls: Check Mates – Beach Bunny Sookie. She is wearing a sweatshirt borrowed from Bergdorf Goodman’s Fashion’s Night Out FR squared doll (the sweatshirt is a mini replica of an actual Jason Wu design), Simply Simpatico Darla Daily’s trousers and London Mist Imogen’s boots. Her photo was taken at my aunt & uncle’s house on Thanksgiving in the early evening. The first picture was taken in the basement (my uncle’s “man cave”) on a worktable with overhead lighting. Her perch is a cool piece of driftwood from my uncle’s collection. The second photo was taken in the backyard on a decorative wagon wheel. Both images were additionally lit with the camera’s flash.

Sometimes it takes a while for me to find the motivation to post my blog and photos. I’d like to blame it on my oh-so-busy life, but mostly I just fall in and out of the mood. It’s like there are a whole bunch of personalities in my head – and it just depends which part of me is at the surface whether or not it’s time for dollie play time. Does that sound crazy? Huh, probably. But that’s the best way to explain it.

I get in the spirit of opening new dolls, or inspiration strikes for redressing. I get the itch to shoot photos. I finally resign myself to downloading, editing and uploading them. I really do enjoy each step in the process, but I’m moody and give in to my whims. So sometimes I’ll have things “on deck” and I just put them off. Funny, because when I finally complete the process, I’m contented with the end results and the feeling of accomplishment. Maybe I’m moody, maybe I’m lazy. Either way, I’m just going to blame it on being an artist. We’re eccentric and undefinable, ya know. 😉

Jett

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls Check Mates Aqua Bella Jett. She is wearing the dress and necklace from the Model Behavior: Visible Sensation fashion, Autumn Champagne Misaki’s boots, A Model Life silkstone Barbie’s earrings, a 4mm craft store closed jump ring on her finger and a mix of Fashion Royalty bracelets and ooak bracelets made by me. Her photo was taken way back on October 17th, in the morning sunshine, in our back yard.

Not too long ago, I finally learned how to crochet. I’m no expert, but I’ve got a few stitches figured out. All thanks to internet tutorials and a lot of patience and practice. Between that and finger knitting (also learned from watching internet video tutorials) I’ve been whipping up a nice little collection of hats and scarves for my dolls. Which is probably why we’ve had so little snow this year – I’m finally prepared for taking a whole mess of “in the snow” pictures. LOL. So, of course, the fickle little flakes are in short supply.

Dayle's Ready For Winter

Dayle's Ready For Winter

Today’s model is Good Times Dayle from the Dynamite Girls – In the City collection. She is wearing a crocheted hat, finger knitted scarf, Paul Frank (Target Exclusive) Ken’s shirt layered over a long-sleeved Fashion Fever Barbie top, Amazon Exclusive Crazy Girl Misaki’s skirt and two pairs of tights – opaque blue borrowed from Barbie and white fishnets that I think once belonged to Poppy Parker or Misaki. Her photo was taken just after the snowfall last Saturday in the late afternoon gloom.

Ah, how I wish it would have been a little brighter and a little warmer out. These were pretty much “grab and go” photos – trying to shoot while there was at least a little light available. It was so cold, I didn’t want to risk repositioning her – the extreme cold can make the dolls temporarily brittle, and I fear cracking the poor dear’s limbs. But enough wishes for better conditions…at least we got some snow. Which, by the way, is already long gone and melted away.

Oh, how I’ve missed this!

I’ve been super busy, but with good reason – we’ve added two new kitties to our family. The house had seemed so empty with our dear Rabbitt gone and we were worried that our other cat, Bella, might be lonely. So, now she will have some new buddies to play with. Both Tippy (four months old) and Asia (three years old) were adopted from rescue groups. So I’ve been spending most of my time teaching them the house rules and getting each cat accustomed the others. It’s been going well, but it takes lots of time & attention.

It’s also been like a total dollypalooza here recently. My preorders have started to ship and I also caught some killer doll & doll clothing sales…gosh, it’s all showing up here at once! So I’ve got a bunch of new toys to play with and high hopes that I’ll be able to carve out some spare time to play with them.

I took some photos over a month ago and finally got a chance to edit and upload them today. If kitty training continues to go as well as it is presently, I’ll be able to start posting here more often. *fingers crossed* Wish me luck! 🙂

Beautiful Rufus Blue

Beautiful Rufus Blue

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls Rufus Blue from the Plastic Inevitable collection. She is wearing the romper from the Holiday in the Hamptons Poppy Parker giftset, Pearlescence Veronique’s bow belt, a couple of Barbie bracelets, a watch from either Ken, the Bratz or the Moxie girls, Regal Solstice Anja’s earrings and a necklace consisting of Hard Rock Barbie’s chain (shortened and with the dog tags removed) and a pendant I found at the flea market. Her photo was taken in our backyard in the evening sunshine.

Yet another photo from our trip to the shore…

Neve's Ready To Jump In

Neve's Ready To Jump In

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls Chill Factor Neve. She is wearing a swimsuit that I got in a bag full of Barbie fashions at the flea market. The suit has no tag, but I’m pretty sure it was made by Mattel. She’s also got a Barbie swim ring float thing. Her photo was taken at Point Pleasant beach in New Jersey under brightly overcast skies.

It’s easy to look on the bright side when the sun is shining. It’s a bit harder when it’s raining. And it’s been raining since Friday. But am I blue? No. How can I be? The world outside my window is practically glowing green with all the new growth the storms have spawned. My flowers are bursting with buds. If the rain ever ends (and it won’t until the end of the week according to the weather channel) I’ll be able to transfer my greenhouse seedlings into the gardens. Even though we’ve got stormy skies now – I can see ahead to the days of bright sunshine. Having a pair of super hero galoshes also helps bring a smile while I wait for the skies to clear – yes, I really do own a pair of pink rubber boots with Bat Girl, Wonder Woman and Super Girl on them and I wear them out in the snow and rain. 🙂

Aria Among The Azaleas

Aria Among The Azaleas

Today’s model is Dynamite Girls Chill Factor Aria. She is wearing Fashion Fever Barbie’s top, Barbie capris,  Fashionisatas Barbie’s shoes, Butterfly Art Barbie’s bracelet and the necklace from Peace & Love 70’s Barbie with the pendant removed (I added a wire closure to turn it into a double strand necklace). Her photo was taken yesterday in my aunt’s front garden. Proof that the dark, rainy days bring beautiful things.

Sometimes it’s a doll’s perfect pout that totally makes her awesome in my eyes. I had a Kissing Barbie as a kid…there were little “kiss” prints everywhere (she came with a lipstick inkpad and a button on her back so she could leave smooches all over the place). I guess the influence started way back then.

Neve in the Sunshine

Neve in the Sunshine

See? Another perfect little pout! Today’s model is Dynamite Girls Chill Factor Neve. I’ve washed, conditioned and brushed out her hair. She is wearing a Barbie dress from a recent Sassy Fashionisatas fashion pack, Tricks of the Trade Eugenia’s earrings (I had to pierce Neve’s ears as she did not arrive with earrings), a Barbie watch, a Barbie bracelet and (though you can’t see them) Barbie Basics black heels. Her photo was taken in our front yard, under sunny skies, in the afternoon. I faced her away from the sun because I liked the way the backlighting showed off her beautiful hair color.
