I confess, we did not color Easter eggs tonight. But we have been indulging in Easter candy all week. 😉 And we had a ham for dinner tonight. Mmmm! Tomorrow we go to visit with family in NJ. I’m already dreaming of the food fest we’ll have there. *drool*

Happy Easter From The Bunny Triplets

Happy Easter From The Bunny Triplets

Today’s models are The Great Pretender Lillith, Elements Of Surprise Lillith and Style Mantra Eden. They are all wearing various Mattel fashions, accessories and footwear. Their bunny ears are homemade by me – I used bumpy and straight chenille stems from the craft store. Because it seems it never stops raining here, their photo was taken indoors. The “floor” is a lemon wood door sample, the background is poster board. The scene was lit by two desk lamps and a full-strength flash. Color correction and text was added with my camera’s photo editing program.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. When I was younger, I used to think that “wind chill” was a little joke the weathermen made up just to mess with us. I mean, it’s just wind…the actual temperature is what matters. Right? Wrong. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and really feel the cold now, or maybe it’s that I now live up on a mountain in the woods, but I now believe in “wind chill”. This winter has been simply brutal with the wind whooshing up from behind the house and rattling at it like a restless spirit. And as cold as it gets, it’s always worse when the wind is howling.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Lillith. She is bundled up against the windy chill wearing a scarf and matching head wrap that I made, Versus Barbie’s jacket, Cali Girl Barbie’s dress, striped armlets (which are actually Bratz Pirate’s legwarmers), leggings from the Barbie Millicent Roberts Going To The Game fashion and My Scene boots. Lillith is pictured riding a sled (found at the flea market) down the hill in our yard in the morning sunshine. Don’t let the sunshine fool ya, it was twenty-something degrees with big ol’ wind gusts a-blowin’. Let’s just say, I took a lot of “warm up” breaks indoors during this photo shoot. 🙂

Oh, Yeah, Wind Chill Makes All The Difference. Brrrr!

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know of my frustration with artificial lighting. Ugh, how it tortures me! Well, today it was actually my friend.

Romantically Illuminated Eden

Romantically Illuminated Eden

I spent the day searching out some early Christmas gifts with my Mom today. After shopping ’til we nearly dropped, we headed back to her house. It was too dark to take photos outside, so I set up my doll for a quick photo shoot under a Tiffany style lamp in the living room. I love the way it lit her – all mysterious like and super moody. 🙂

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Eden. She is wearing Pure Evil Misaki’s blouse, Trendy Girl Misaki’s trousers, a knitted wrap made by me, Fashion Royalty earrings (not sure who’s specifically) and Optic Verve Agnes’ shoes (not visible in this photo). She is also carrying the handbag from Pearlescence Veronique.

How is it that I can always come up with a photo, but sometimes the words totally elude me? Maybe it’s because I still have this terrible cold. I don’t know. Anyway, I have writers block…or blogger’s block…so here’s a photo….it’s worth a thousand words, ya know. 😉

Lily, my Ballerina in Boots

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Lillith. She’s wearing silkstone Ballerina Barbie’s tutu, Top Model Hair Wear Barbie’s thigh high stockings, The Outsider Misaki’s boots, Hello Kitty Barbie’s sunglasses, a Fashion Royalty cuff bracelet and earrings that might have come from a Barbie, I think.  She’s posed in my side yard on the great wheel (from a local ribbon mill) in late evening sunlight.

I’m a firm believer that ice cream can make anything better…or at least more tolerable. I can remember the pure glee at hearing the ice cream truck’s tinny melody coming up the street at my grandparent’s house. My brothers and I were indulged more often than not, breathlessly running up to the truck with grandpa’s money clutched in our mitts. Ice cream is also the staple in our family when life hands us some sadness: a break-up, bad news or any of the many other little bumps in the road of life. Birthdays and barbeques usually find ice cream as one of the sweets on the menu at the end of the day. It is our comfort food of choice.

Sometimes you need to eat straight from the carton. Mmmmm.

Elements of Surprise Eden is wearing a B.F.C. ink. fashion. The chair she is reclining on was part of the My Scene Sound Lounge set. The “table” is a green depression glass coaster on top of a brass egg stand. The barely visible floor is a piece of vinyl floor tile, the walls are scrapbook paper. The vase and spoon are from a whole Barbie dining set that had plates, cups, etc. I’m not sure what doll the bouquet of flowers came from, maybe a prom Bratz boy. The ice cream carton and lid are from a lip balm assortment pack I got at Big Lots around the holidays.
