Happy Fourth of July, everyone! I hope you get a chance to celebrate in your favorite way. Parades, fireworks, grillin’ and picnicking, hitting the beach, lake or pool – whatever your little hearts desire. Have fun! πŸ™‚

Ken Plays Frisbee Near The Ocean At Wildwood, NJ

Ken Plays Frisbee on the Beach at Wildwood, NJ

Today’s model is Barbie Basics Ken: collection 002 model no. 15 – jeans collection. He is wearing another Ken’s shorts – I don’t know if they’re from a carded fashion or Cali Blaine or the My Scene boys or what. He’s got a frisbee that is from a frisbee shooter toy. We got it with tickets we won at the arcade on the boardwalk when we were at Point Pleasant earlier in the week. His photo was taken in the early evening on the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey.

Beach Patrol Ken

Beach Patrol Ken

Today’s model is Harley Davidson Ken. He is wearing shorts and sandals from a carded Ken fashion.Β  And he’s sitting on a Barbie lifeguard chair that I got at the flea market. The tube is Barbie’s, too – also from the flea market. The surfboard is Bratz, I think. He also has a water bottle from one of the recent Fashionistas Barbie fashion packs, a pair of Barbie sunglasses and a towel borrowed from silkstone Spa Getaway Barbie. His photo was taken in the afternoon, near the ocean’s edge on Point Pleasant beach, under brightly overcast skies.

LOL, I’m always looking for my doll stuff to go on sale. Especially if it’s a doll who’s outfit is my main interest. In a perfect world, I’d be able to buy each piece of clothing, nude dolls, shoes or a belt separately. But it’s not. So a sale is the next best thing. Of course, once I get it home, who’s to say I won’t fall for the doll as well? πŸ˜‰

Sporty Fashionistas Ken

Sporty Fashionistas Ken

Today’s model is Sporty Fashionistas Ken. He’s wearing his original outfit. It’s been raining most of the day, but I made a mad dash out to the rock wall on the side of the driveway for quick pics this evening when the skies brightened a bit. Truth be told, I bought this doll so my Misaki gals could thief his shirt. But he is sorta handsome…I think he’s growing on me.

Everybody knows that I love dolls. But some of my favorites are the special ones, the ones given to me from the people I love. I got a very special box in the mail the other day. In it was a “just because” dollie present from my inlaws.

Barbie & Ken Forever

Barbie & Ken Forever

Isn’t this great? In celebration of Ken’s 50th anniversary, Mattel has created a media buzz with Barbie taking Ken back as her boyfriend. (There were rumors of Barbie “stepping out” with another guy, Blaine, a few years back – I knew it wouldn’t last. ;)) Could church bells be ringing soon? Only time will tell.

This photo was taken indoors with a flash. I used a piece of Barbie pink poster board for the background. I added the text on the bottom in my camera’s software program on my computer.

I Was Made For Lovin’ You, Baby. You Were Made For Lovin’ Me. Kiss

I have a tendency to shoot one subject at a time. I don’t do too many photos with two or more models. Which is a shame, because I do like the way the pictures look when dolls are interacting. It seems more real. I find it much harder when I have two models to keep an eye on, but the results make think that maybe I should do it more often.

Poppy & Rafe Take A Stroll In The Late Afternoon Sunlight

Poppy & Rafe Take An Afternoon Stroll

Today’s models are Ask Any Girl Poppy Parker and Barbie Basics 2.0 model 15 Ken (I’ve renamed him Rafe). Both have been to the hair salon for a wash, style and air dry treatment. Rafe is wearing his original ensemble with the addition of Twilight Edward’s shirt. Poppy is wearing LIV School’s Out Katie’s shirt, LIV Walmart exclusive Katie’s trousers and Chao/Ciao Misaki’s boots. Rafe has also lent Poppy his jacket (originally from Twilight Edward) to keep her warm during their jaunt outdoors. The photo was taken in our yard at the bottom of the driveway.

It’s the middle of August and I’m beginning to feel the summer slip away. The nights are getting cooler (better for sleeping, at least) and it feels like the days are going by so quickly. This time each year I try to really savor the season, squeezing in as many warm weather activities as possible. I’m nowhere near ready to say goodbye.

Party at the Barbie Dream Pool

Party at the Barbie Dream Pool

The star of today’s shoot is the vintage Barbie swimming pool that my hubby bought for me at the dolls how. It is so cool! It has an outdoor shower, a sundeck, a slide and ladder, a pool vacuum,Β  a lifesaver ring, a barbeque and beautiful railings. I added some furniture and many assorted littles to the scene, too many to list. There are nine dolls at the party – all of them have been featured here before. I had a ball setting this up in my driveway and I took a ton of pictures. It took so long to set up, that I started to lose the light, so I apologize for the less-than-perfect photo. But I hope you can still feel the fun coming at you through the image.

You wonder why I don’t do too many shoots indoors. I’ll tell you why. Because I have two cats. And they are curious. Whenever they notice that something besides their kitty goodness has gotten my attention, they feel the need to remind me just how wonderful they are. Surely I would rather be paying attention to them. LOL. And sooner or later, they always convince me to drop whatever I’m doing and shower them the with love they truly deserve. So, today you get two for one – a photo with a dollie and a kitty in it.

AG Rocker Babe & Bella the Party Animal

AG Rocker Babe & Bella the Party Animal

We got some much needed rain today, so the shoot was indoors. The dollie model is a W Club exclusive Freeze Frame AvantGuard. She’s wearing a LIV dolls wig (with the inner post removed), Bratz or My Scene sunglasses – I don’t remember which, a Fashion Royalty bracelet and earrings, shoes of unknown origins (maybe kingstate?) that I found at a doll show, a long Barbie wrap skirt modified with an elastic band into a pouf, and pieces of the outfit from Barbie and the Rockers Ken: socks, fingerless glove, silver bandana (wrapped around her wrist), long jacket and the topΒ  – which was cut away from the pleather pants (originally the top and pants were sewn together). Her modeling companion is my cat, Bella.

The photo was taken in my hallway. There’s a giraffe print throw rug from Home Depot and the cat’s couch that we got at the flea market. The picture was taken with a full flash and brightened even more with my camera’s photo editing software.

If It Stops Raining Tomorrow, I’m Shooting Outside.

So often it seems I am running out of time. Maybe I try to do too much. Or I think everything takes less time than it actually does. Either way, I come down to the wire a lot. I catch the last rays of sunset for a photo shoot, barely make a post before midnight. Maybe I’m too ambitious. Well, whatever the cause…here I am again, squeaking it in last minute. πŸ˜‰

DC & Jack

DC & Jack

Today’s photo features Dreadfully Cute Misaki (I call her DC) and Harley Davidson Ken (renamed Jack). DC is wearing a Dynamite Girls top, Fashion Royalty shorts, Barbie sandals & bracelet and a Mattel Top Model scarf in her hair. Jack’s wearing Hard Rock Cafe Barbie’s dogtag necklace and Mattel’s Ken track pants and sneakers. I took their photo near sunset down by the lake in our community.

Have you ever ridden a bicycle built for two? I haven’t. They rent them on the boardwalk where we vacation on the Jersey shore. It’s fun to watch the people go by, working in tandem – some well and some…well, very badly. *giggle* It’s the sort of thing that seems like a good idea in theory. Usually while all the bikers are going by on the boardwalk, hubby and I are either grabbing coffee and/or breakfast or taking an early stroll down the beach. That’s enough joint effort for me. πŸ™‚

Jack And Jenny On Their Tandem Bicycle

Jack And Jenny On Their Tandem Bicycle

Today we have two models. The first is Harley Davidson Ken who I’ve renamed Jack. He’s wearing Mattel Ken’s shorts & sandals (I think from a separate carded fashion) and a beach necklace I made just for him. I couldn’t bear covering up Jack’s beautiful chest, so it remains bare. LOL, he’s too sexy for his shirt. His partner, Pop Life Barbie, doesn’t seem to mind. She’s wearing the top, shorts and shoes from High School Musical Gabriel and her own original ring and earrings. They are enjoying a tandem bicycle ride – the bike was a fifty cent flea market find (I removed the foot straps), I think it was originally included inΒ  a My Scene set. The photo was taken in my driveway in the late afternoon, in ninety degree sunshine. Whoo-wee, it was hot out there!

Today is my birthday. And I’m old enough that it’s no longer worth mentioning just how many years it’s been since my life started. πŸ˜‰ I’m having a great time, hubby took the day off work and showered me with fabulous presents and lots of attention. We spent the day just hanging out together, first on a scenic car ride, then shopping and back home to mess about in the yard. It was fun, relaxed and entertaining. He’s my favorite person in the world, he totally gets me and we spend a whole lot of time laughing and being silly. The best way to spend a birthday is with the one who loves you. Lucky me, he’s all my wishes come true every day.

Jeannie and Jack

Jeannie and Jack

One of my awesome birthday presents from hubby was the Harley Davidson Barbie & Ken set. Ken got released from the box right away (Barbie will have to wait a bit longer) and got to meet the rest of my tribe. He’s been given a new name because he doesn’t look like a “Ken” to me. I call him Jack. His original outfit is cool, so no redressing him yet.

Jack’s new girlfriend for now (something tells me he’s going to be a heartbreaker, LOL) is a Nippon Misaki Crazy Girl doll that I’ve renamed Jeannie. She’s wearing a Momoko tank top, Painted Black Colette’s shorts, Integrity Toys shoes (not sure specifically which doll they’re from), Mattel bracelets and Harley Davidson Barbie’s sunglasses.

Jack’s articulation is so good that he can pose freestanding and unassisted while giving Jeannie a ride on his shoulders. This photo was taken with them standing on the rock wall in my front yard, lit by the last rays of sunset.
