It seems not a day goes by without some rain in it. Sometimes it’s an all day affair, other times it sneaks up all loud and thundery in the afternoon. It’s like the rain forest here, or Florida…or England. They get a lot of rain, right? Anyway…we’ve been getting so much rain, I may start looking into the fine art of ark building. 😉

Today’s model is Lady Like Amelie. She is wearing a fashion fever top, Fashionistas Barbie shorts and (though you can’t see them) Barbie sandals. Her photo was taken in our back yard in the afternoon as storm clouds rolled in.

Sometimes I think the hardest part of posting on my blog is choosing the photos. I had a really fun photo session today. And the choices are many. I tell you what – I’m just going to pick any ol’ one and if you want to see more, you can click on my Flickr link. Okay? Alrighty then.

Misaki Taming The Wildlife

Misaki Taming The Wildlife

Today’s model is Lady Like Misaki. She is wearing a Dynamite Girls top, a Mattel made mini skirt, Spring Forward Eugenia’s shoes, Fashion Royalty earrings and bracelet, an armlet that I made out of twisted craft wire, a 4mm fancy jump ring as a ring, Mattel sunglasses and a dollar store hair clip. Her photo was taken in our side yard, in the late afternoon, by our hybrid lilac bush. A bee and a butterfly visit with her there.

I’ve been wanting to do a photo shoot with my dolls building a snowman for a while. I knew it was going to be involved, but I never expected it to be so hard/difficult/challenging. I made snowmen when I was little and it was pretty simple. LOL, not this time. First, it’s so cold here that the snow doesn’t want to pack – so making even tiny snowballs involves using my bare hands to melt it enough to stay together…so really, they’re more like ice balls. Next, putting sticks (for the snowman’s arms)  into ice balls is near impossible. I ended up sticking them on with more snow that I first melted in my bare hands. Brrrr! My other obstacles were wind, clouds, sudden flurries and really cold temperatures.

But, despite the challenges, the photo shoot was a pretty good success. So the whole set is up on Flickr for your viewing pleasure. And here’s my favorite shot…

"On TV, The Hat Brought Him To Life. Maybe This One's Broken?"

You may recognize Mod Misaki from yesterday’s photo, she’s helping Lady Like Amelie build a snowman. Amelie is wearing an older Barbie mini dress, a shirt from a Ken fashion pack, stockings from a skinny, leggy fashion doll who’s name I’ve forgotten and an LIV doll’s boots. She’s lent her hat (from Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and her scarf (another ooak made by me) to their little snowman. The photo was taken early this morning during a burst of intermittent sunshine in my back yard.

I had a marathon photo day today. I trundled my dollie all over the yard, taking advantage of the spectacular sunlight, sapphire skies and sparkling snow. It was cold and clear with the wind kicking up in gusts and then settling down at intervals. I took plenty of breaks to warm up indoors, but it gave me a chance to choose new locations to best utilize the lighting and overall image composition. My only complaint is that this photo session left me unable to choose a single favorite.

Today’s models are Pure Evil Misaki, Lady Like Misaki, Dynamite Girls Chill Factor Neve, Amazon exclusive Crazy Girl Misaki and Bonjour Amelie. Pure Evil is wearing an Audrey Hepburn Barbie dress, Modern Circle Barbie’s chiffon wrap as a scarf in her hair, Mary Kate and Ashley Barbie shoes, Mattel bracelets and a necklace I got at a doll show. Lady Like is wearing a Barbie Snow White dress and Winx dolls shoes. Neve is wearing a Barbie basketball uniform and Barbie socks & sneakers. Crazy Girl is wearing a Barbie Wonder Woman costume. Lastly, Amelie is wearing Witchy Witch Misaki’s dress and stockings, Barbie’s pointed hat and Fashion Royalty boots. The trick or treat bags were made by me out of a grocery bag, pipe cleaners, tape and stickers. The Halloween treat buckets were flea market finds.

The photo shoot was set up outdoors in my side yard with two hay bales behind them (to lean against – it was a windy day). It was taken in the early evening under overcast skies with the aid of the camera’s flash to brighten the scene.

You would not believe the barrage of acorns that have been falling from the trees lately. When I step outside, it sounds like gunfire as they hit the rooftops, cars and anything else in their downward path. It’s been a strange summer, with countless heatwaves and a scarce amount of rain. Earlier this summer, the trees started prematurely dropping tiny acorns which were mostly caps and hardly any substance. Then we got a few days of rain, and all of a sudden the acorns have grown in larger and more abundant than I’ve ever seen before. And in the last week or so, you’ve needed an umbrella to keep from being pelted as they rained down. One thing’s for certain, the wildlife will have plenty to keep them from going hungry this winter.

Amelie Finds A Tiny Acorn

Amelie Finds A Tiny Acorn

Lady Like Amelie is wearing a dress and lacy knee socks borrowed from Vintage Vinyl Dynamite Girls Sooki, her shoes are from the Only Hearts Club dolls and the hair bow is from Dynamite Girls Gavin. I reworked the earring dangles from Pop Life Kelly by adding them to a pair of Fashion Royalty earrings, creating something new. Along with them Amelie is also wearing three bracelets from Pop Life Kelly & Barbie. She is sitting on the railing to the lower deck in the backyard holding one of the smaller examples of a bumper crop of local acorns. In between the clouds of the morning and the storms in the evening, we had some nice peeks of sunshine in the early afternoon. Lucky for me, that’s when I planned today’s photo shoot.

We’re enjoying the last bits of summer this Labor Day weekend. Hubby offered to take me and the dollies over to the Bushkill boat launch over on the Delaware River for some photos this afternoon. Isn’t he just the best? Yes, he is! The sun was playing peek-a-boo in the clouds and the wind was really kickin’, but I still got some usable images. And we had fun. While we were there though, there was a big commotion. Somebody reported an overturned canoe with someone possibly falling in the water. The ranger came over and asked us if we saw anyone come out of the river. Well, we didn’t. There were a bunch of emergency vehicles on the road when we left, and they still hadn’t found anyone. So, I’m hoping that it was either a false report or they find them safe and sound.

I brought two models today, so you get two photos. The first gal is Forget Me Not Poppy Parker. She’s wearing the top from 70s Barbie, a skirt from a Barbie clothing pack, Addicted Luchia’s shoes, Power Couple Erin’s earrings and a bunch of Barbie bracelets. The second girl is Lady Like Misaki. She is wearing Purple Panic Christie’s top, Juicy Couture Barbie’s skirt and socks and sneakers from Mattel – though I’m not sure who they came with originally.

It’s the middle of August and I’m beginning to feel the summer slip away. The nights are getting cooler (better for sleeping, at least) and it feels like the days are going by so quickly. This time each year I try to really savor the season, squeezing in as many warm weather activities as possible. I’m nowhere near ready to say goodbye.

Party at the Barbie Dream Pool

Party at the Barbie Dream Pool

The star of today’s shoot is the vintage Barbie swimming pool that my hubby bought for me at the dolls how. It is so cool! It has an outdoor shower, a sundeck, a slide and ladder, a pool vacuum,  a lifesaver ring, a barbeque and beautiful railings. I added some furniture and many assorted littles to the scene, too many to list. There are nine dolls at the party – all of them have been featured here before. I had a ball setting this up in my driveway and I took a ton of pictures. It took so long to set up, that I started to lose the light, so I apologize for the less-than-perfect photo. But I hope you can still feel the fun coming at you through the image.

A sure sign that summer has arrived is when the wild daisies start sprouting along the driveway. Those cheery little flowers practically sing out loud that the summer is here and it’s time to have fun. Unlike the blooms that I’ve planted in my garden, the wild daisies show up on their own and aren’t fussy about where they grow. In fact they always seem most at home growing along driveways and springing up through cracks in the sidewalk. They seem to not only tackle adversity, but also smile while they’re doing it. There’s a lesson there, I think.

This delicate little beauty is Lady Like Misaki. She’s wearing a Fashion Royalty “W” logo top, Barbie jeans shorts, LIV dolls yellow dock shoes and a necklace from Integrity Toys. Kneeling on the side of the driveway, lit by the warm rays of a summer sunset, a wild daisy has captured her interest.
