The snow is still piled up all over the place, but it is slowly melting down. We’ll just have to enjoy it before winter subsides to spring.

Today’s model is no stranger, you saw Lilith in the last post here. But she’s buttoned up her jacket, snuggled into her scarf and continues to brave the great, frozen outdoors.

The Icehouse has melted. In the next photos, not much remains.

The world is still wrapped in winter white, but for how long?

Lily’s photos were taken all around our yard on a sunny winter day in early February.

Though Snowy Signs Remain,

Winter Will Soon Surrender To Spring.

Solitary Snowy Solace

Solitary Snowbound Solace

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lilith. She is wearing an open-ended ponytail hat crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls: London Calling Kyu’s coat (I love this coat!), FR2 Modern Sensibility Dasha’s tank top, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers, Integrity Toys boots (from one of the Model Behavior girls?) and a pair of gloved hands (not sure who they originally belonged to, really). Lily’s photos were taken in the ice house built in our front yard, in the morning on the first day of February.

I love how the ice house sometimes acts like a light box, diffusing and amplifying the sunlight. The cold had me sneaking in and out of the house to warm up and didn’t lend to spending time changing poses, but I do love the shots I ended up with. Fun times. πŸ™‚

Wishing Everyone A Very Happy Holiday!

Today’s model is Great Pretender Lillith. She is wearing a dress from one of the past grocery store holiday Barbie dolls, Fashion Royalty stockings, shoes from a recent Fashion Royalty shoe pack (only available at the last convention or through the W club/Integrity Toys site), ooak earrings (made by me) and an ooak crocheted hat, scarfΒ  & cuffs (also made by me). The bench was a lucky flea market find. Lillith’s photo was taken in our front yard near sunset yesterday evening.

Yay! Yay! It’s Christmas Day!

I confess, we did not color Easter eggs tonight. But we have been indulging in Easter candy all week. πŸ˜‰ And we had a ham for dinner tonight. Mmmm! Tomorrow we go to visit with family in NJ. I’m already dreaming of the food fest we’ll have there. *drool*

Happy Easter From The Bunny Triplets

Happy Easter From The Bunny Triplets

Today’s models are The Great Pretender Lillith, Elements Of Surprise Lillith and Style Mantra Eden. They are all wearing various Mattel fashions, accessories and footwear. Their bunny ears are homemade by me – I used bumpy and straight chenille stems from the craft store. Because it seems it never stops raining here, their photo was taken indoors. The “floor” is a lemon wood door sample, the background is poster board. The scene was lit by two desk lamps and a full-strength flash. Color correction and text was added with my camera’s photo editing program.

We’ve had a few teases of springtime weather, but this morning it was winter all over again. I woke up to a scene straight out of a story book. Big, fluffy clumps of snow covered the trees, weighing them down. We only got a couple of inches, but that’s plenty. It’s stopped snowing since and the big melt is already starting to happen.

It's Springtime On The Calendar But Winter's Still Here

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. She is wearing FR2 Dasha’s tank top and jacket, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers and Barbie’s BMR Going To The Game scarf accented with a silkstone Barbie brooch. Her photo was taken this morning in the backyard while the snow was still falling and the clouds were heavy enough to blot out the sun.

I was out taking photos early this morning. The blue skies and sunshine were irresistible even though is was very cold out. I got a dollie ready (in a basic black dress), took a set of pictures and downloaded them right away. I noticed that the lighting was really bright, so I went back out again (after adding a couple more accessories to dollie’s outfit) with a polarizing lens to cut the glare. I took another whole set of photos and came in when the cold got to be too much. I went through and edited all my images and was faced with another problem. Too many to choose from. I don’t know how other people can pick a favorite. It’s very hard for me.

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. Her original handspeak hands were switched for gloved ones. She is wearing a Barbie Basics dress, Fashion Royalty stud earrings and a belt that I’m not too sure where it came from. She’s also wearing Deconstruction Site Eugenia’s shoes, but you can’t see them here. Her photo was taken in my side yard in bright morning sunshine.

One Of My Favorites

Today’s model is The Great Pretender Lillith. She is wearing Fashion Royalty earrings and a Barbie turtleneck shirt. Her photo was taken in the late evening sunlight on my front porch. I decided to post a sepia-tone photo today, as Lillith doesn’t even need color to look good. Doesn’t she have the most amazing face? There is no wonder why she is one of my faves.

There are some things I will never do. Most of them involve extreme (or even some not-so-very extreme) sports. Because the fact is: I’m over forty, I’m a bit uncoordinated (okay, a klutz) and I don’t like pain. My idea of fun, thrill-seeking activities are scoring hard-to-find dolls, catching bargains and witnessing fabulous sunsets. So, you won’t find me at a roller derby, tandem skydiving, surfing or snowboarding. Now, my dolls are a different story – they are little daredevils. Just because I have no desire to risk life and limb, doesn’t mean my dolls aren’t eager to strut their stuff. It’s fun to live vicariously through them while taking photos of them going wild. Most of the time, the danger is simulated and almost no dollies have ever been injured during the making of extreme images. πŸ˜‰

Lillith Catches Some Freshies And Tries Not To Face Plant Or Rag Doll On The Pow

Lillith Catches Some Freshies And Tries Not To Face Plant

Living up to her name, today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. She’s wearing a top borrowed from School Style Barbie, jeans from an older Fashion Avenue Barbie fashion pack and Barbie boots from a fashion pack produced a couple of years ago (they are a really tight fit on Lillith). I also traded out Lillith’s regular handspeak hands for another Fashion Royalty doll’s gloved ones.

I found the snowboard in the toy aisle. It’s made by Mattel, but I think you’re meant to put it on the ends of two fingers…and then you let your fingers do the walking…er, boarding. It has different, switchable braces (the things that hold your fingers or the doll’s boots) one white pair, one red and then a weird black set that have no openings – so boots won’t fit in them. Very few doll boots fit in the braces and look right – so I was lucky to find that these did.

Lillith’s photo shoot took place in my yard in the late afternoon sunlight. It was cold and windy, and I’m afraid Lillith did take a few tumbles. But it was a fun experience and no harm was done.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. When I was younger, I used to think that “wind chill” was a little joke the weathermen made up just to mess with us. I mean, it’s just wind…the actual temperature is what matters. Right? Wrong. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and really feel the cold now, or maybe it’s that I now live up on a mountain in the woods, but I now believe in “wind chill”. This winter has been simply brutal with the wind whooshing up from behind the house and rattling at it like a restless spirit. And as cold as it gets, it’s always worse when the wind is howling.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Lillith. She is bundled up against the windy chill wearing a scarf and matching head wrap that I made, Versus Barbie’s jacket, Cali Girl Barbie’s dress, striped armlets (which are actually Bratz Pirate’s legwarmers), leggings from the Barbie Millicent Roberts Going To The Game fashion and My Scene boots. Lillith is pictured riding a sled (found at the flea market) down the hill in our yard in the morning sunshine. Don’t let the sunshine fool ya, it was twenty-something degrees with big ol’ wind gusts a-blowin’. Let’s just say, I took a lot of “warm up” breaks indoors during this photo shoot. πŸ™‚

Oh, Yeah, Wind Chill Makes All The Difference. Brrrr!
