I got a new pair of dollies today and I just couldn’t wait to photograph them! I took some pictures indoors with the flash, because it was so cold and windy out. Blah. I didn’t really like the whole “indoors with a flash” result, so I bit the bullet and hauled my dollies outside. Much better…colder, and the wind did present a challenge… but the photos rock! I love shooting outdoors in the sunshine. 🙂

Wild at Heart Lillith and Eden

Wild at Heart Lillith and Eden

Today’s models are the new Wild at Heart Eden & Lillith from the recent Dark Romance Fashion Royalty convention. They are so wonderful! Lillith and Eden are wearing their awesome original outfits, though I think I have the shoes and jewelry switched from how they were originally intended. No matter, my collection is all about playing – not whether or not all the fashion pieces are on the correct dolls, LOL. Head on over to my Flickr photostream if you’d like to see more – I took a ton of pictures.

How is it that I can always come up with a photo, but sometimes the words totally elude me? Maybe it’s because I still have this terrible cold. I don’t know. Anyway, I have writers block…or blogger’s block…so here’s a photo….it’s worth a thousand words, ya know. 😉

Lily, my Ballerina in Boots

Lily, my Ballerina in Boots

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Lillith. She’s wearing silkstone Ballerina Barbie’s tutu, Top Model Hair Wear Barbie’s thigh high stockings, The Outsider Misaki’s boots, Hello Kitty Barbie’s sunglasses, a Fashion Royalty cuff bracelet and earrings that might have come from a Barbie, I think.  She’s posed in my side yard on the great wheel (from a local ribbon mill) in late evening sunlight.

If one is good, two are better. I like the challenge of posing two dolls together. But, a challenge it is. When I take doll photos, I’m constantly checking everything: lighting, focus, body position, hair flyaways, glare on the eyes, how the clothing is laying, background, tilt of the head…and so much more. Add another doll and not only is all that doubled, but I have to watch how they look together. I want it to look natural, as if they are interacting. A tough order, but when it works out it’s awesome.

Lillith and Eden

I chose the twins for today’s photo shoot. The Great Pretender Lillith is wearing a Barbie dress, Fashion Royalty earrings and tiny hair clips from the dollar store (and you can’t see them, but she’s wearing Dynamite Girls shoes). Style Mantra Eden is also wearing a Barbie dress, Fashion Royalty earrings and a Barbie hair twist over the elastic holding her ponytail (and you can’t see her shoes either, but they are from Barbie as well). *If you want to see full length pictures, just check out my Flickr link. They are seated on marble spheres purchased at Hobby Lobby. The photo was taken in my backyard in late evening sunlight.

Tiger stripes and cheetah spots, animal prints seem to be all the rage every other season in the fashion pages. The lure of the wild always seem to strike a chord with the designers and buyers. What do you want to be today? A sleek jungle cat? or a beautiful bird? or maybe a black and white striped zebra? I guess it gives us a chance to live out the jungle fantasy – throw off the chains of civilization and set our inner beast free. Yeah, that definitely has an appeal. Rowrrrr!

Wild Child Lily

The Great Pretender Lillith shows her wild side and animal agility by climbing atop a zebra sculpture and holding her balance while modeling the latest prints. She’s wearing a zebra striped top and skin-tight leggings from the Fashionistas Barbies. The sunglasses, shoes and bracelets are Mattel items, too. The earrings are from Fashion Royalty and the backpack shoulder bag is Bratz. The zebra was yet another fab flea market find. Lily is posing in my front yard under cloudy skies in the afternoon. The scene gets a bit of extra lighting from the camera’s flash. And, yes, Lily is actually balancing on the back of that zebra without any extra help. She does all her own stunts, LOL.

If yesterday was summer, today was a heatwave. Temps topped out at ninety-one degrees today. In Pennsylvania, in April. Crazy. If not for the near constant breeze and the low humidity, it would have been uncomfortable. But nature was kind and didn’t bring us more than we could handle. It was gorgeous! I even found time to lay out on the lounge in the front yard and bask in the sun. LOL, I’m so winter pale that I think the sun reflecting off of my skin could be seen in deep space. Hopefully no astronauts or aliens were blinded by my sun worship. 😉

Fashion Royalty’s The Great Pretender Lillith dresses for the heatwave in Barbie’s strapless sundress, her own original shoes, a Barbie handbag, Fashion Royalty earrings and a bracelet of unknown origin. The photo shoot takes place in my backyard where she leans on a large old branch that hubby saved for my ‘dollie picture area’. In the background, you can see the trees that get covered in tiny white flowers each spring.

A new dollie came today. Fashion Royalty’s The Great Pretender Lillith from the Nu Face collection. The name cracks me up, because many have accused her of looking a bit like (or pretending to be) Barbie. I get it – blonde hair, pink clothes…but that’s about it. She is all I’ve come to love about the Nu Face gals: fab clothes, gorgeous faces and rockin’ bods. I ripped Lillith out of the box in record time, and boy did I have fun taking photos of her!

Lovely Lillith - Super Blonde And Beautiful

It was a warm day, so Lillith ditched her jacket for the photo shoot, but kept the rest of her original outfit. She opted out of wearing her original earrings, substituting the pink ones from the “Life of the Party” convention fashion. For extra bling, she also borrowed a necklace from Grand Entrance Colette. She seems to even have charmed the wind into styling her hair during the photo session. It’s hard not to be moved by such beauty.

Yes. Blondes Do Have More Fun.
