The snow is still piled up all over the place, but it is slowly melting down. We’ll just have to enjoy it before winter subsides to spring.

Today’s model is no stranger, you saw Lilith in the last post here. But she’s buttoned up her jacket, snuggled into her scarf and continues to brave the great, frozen outdoors.

The Icehouse has melted. In the next photos, not much remains.

The world is still wrapped in winter white, but for how long?

Lily’s photos were taken all around our yard on a sunny winter day in early February.

Though Snowy Signs Remain,

Winter Will Soon Surrender To Spring.

Solitary Snowbound Solace

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lilith. She is wearing an open-ended ponytail hat crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls: London Calling Kyu’s coat (I love this coat!), FR2 Modern Sensibility Dasha’s tank top, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers, Integrity Toys boots (from one of the Model Behavior girls?) and a pair of gloved hands (not sure who they originally belonged to, really). Lily’s photos were taken in the ice house built in our front yard, in the morning on the first day of February.

I love how the ice house sometimes acts like a light box, diffusing and amplifying the sunlight. The cold had me sneaking in and out of the house to warm up and didn’t lend to spending time changing poses, but I do love the shots I ended up with. Fun times. 🙂

Well, if you saw my last post, then you’ll recognize today’s model. Last time, her photos were taken indoors. But, I find that I really enjoy it when I can go outside and play…..

Fresh Air, Sunshine & Snow!

Today’s photos were taken in our front yard a little over a week  ago. Amazing what a difference moving a photo shoot outdoors makes! I swear my little dollies breathe a sigh of relief when they get to go outside…..well, maybe it’s just me. I do so love to get out there and frolic under the big, blue sky. Ahhhhhhhhhh. 🙂

I remember growing up with a whole gaggle of smiley-faced Barbie dolls. Eternally joyful, their frozen grins portrayed an almost manic state of elation. Not a frown nor a single look of displeasure in the bunch. Which is probably why I now find non-smiling dolls so enchanting. From sardonic smirks to thoughtful expressions – even those in-your-face, apparently down-turned mouths that convey such disdain….I get a kick out of them all. Pout on, little dollies. It will only endear you more to me.

Where Are You Hiding Your Smile?

Where Are You Hiding Your Smile?

Today’s model is Making A Scene Erin. She is wearing a hat & scarf set that I crocheted myself. Her wardrobe also consists of: London Calling Kyu’s sweater, London Calling Holland’s turtleneck top, Mattel Stardoll fashion pack skirt, Fashion Royalty tights (maybe from Picture This Erin? not sure), Rock Wedding: Rocking Ever After Lillith’s shoes and some random Barbie sunglasses. Her photos were taken in the waxing and waning sunlight streaming through our front door. A crumpled and reflattened piece of kitchen tinfoil served as a backdrop.

I experimented with a bunch of different options on my camera during this shoot – high contrast black & white, high-key, color pop…all kinds of stuff. It was fun to try them out. Some I like, others feel like a bit of overkill. But it’s neat to experiment, I think. Though mostly a purist, I think a little tweak of “camera magic” is exciting once in a while.

We’re well into crunch time – the big day fast approaches. Soon it will be Christmas! I’ve been baking and decorating cookies, the tree has been trimmed and some of the presents are wrapped. I’ve been a busy little elf. We had a bit of snow, too. So, it truly is looking a lot like Christmas in these parts. Amid the hustle and bustle, I even found time to grab a few holiday dollie photos.

Season's Greetings!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Today’s model is Fame by Frame Imogen from the Tropicalia convention. She is wearing an elf hat crocheted by me, a sweater (sold as a tree ornament) from Christopher & Banks, LIV dolls Moolight Dance Daniela’s dress, Barbie stockings, boots from the 2008 “The Heist” convention Life of the Party fashion, Fashion Royalty earrings and bracelets and rings that are actually craft store jump rings from the jewelry department. I also created the wreath myself. It’s fashioned out of green wired holiday ribbon from Walmart and trimmed with a bow from a spool of ribbon found at Michaels in the dollar bin. Imogen’s photos were taken a couple of day’s ago in our yard – the first two in the front yard (in a snow pile that I carved a little path in – and, yes, she is standing on her own…with a little help from the snow. LOL) and the last image was taken in our backyard.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

And A Happy New Year!

This time of year, when it’s so cold and comfort is in short supply, there are few things more welcome than a snuggly sweater. And if it happens to be borrowed from a sweetheart, all the better….Ah, it’s like wearing a hug!

Colorful Ayumi

Colorful Ayumi

Today’s model is Color Infusion Sunset Rave Ayumi from the Jet Set convention. She is wearing a sweater from Ken’s fashion pack, Simply Simpatico Poppy & Darla’s blouse and skirt, stockings of unknown origin (I wish I could remember, ugh!), earrings that I made myself and a 4mm solid jump ring on her finger. I took the photo a while ago (I’ve been procrastinating again) on an overcast day in November. The image was shot on our front porch in the morning just before a cold rainstorm. The bench was a flea market find.

Wishing Everyone A Very Happy Holiday!

Today’s model is Great Pretender Lillith. She is wearing a dress from one of the past grocery store holiday Barbie dolls, Fashion Royalty stockings, shoes from a recent Fashion Royalty shoe pack (only available at the last convention or through the W club/Integrity Toys site), ooak earrings (made by me) and an ooak crocheted hat, scarf  & cuffs (also made by me). The bench was a lucky flea market find. Lillith’s photo was taken in our front yard near sunset yesterday evening.

Yay! Yay! It’s Christmas Day!

Between watching Big Brother and the Jets game, talking on the phone with my mother-in-law and playing with the kitties (who are adjusting beautifully to life at our house, I’m so proud of them!), I’m sneaking in a post.

Some dolls just photograph like they belong on the silver screen…

Imogen

Imogen

Today’s model is London Mist Imogen. I washed and combed out her hair. She is wearing her original earrings, a one-of-a-kind necklace made by me and silkstone Barbie Capucine’s top. Her photo was taken in our back yard in the early afternoon sunshine. If you look close, you can see a tiny piece of the new bench I got at the flea market – it was made for Boyds Bears and it’s really nice. Loves it! Anyway, you can click my Flickr link to see more pictures from the photo shoot. Oh, and the stuff you can’t see in this photo (but you can on Flickr): ooak bracelets made by me, a 4mm closed jump ring from the jewelry section of the craft store worn as a ring, Barbie Basics jeans and Monogram Discreet’s shoes.

That’s A Wrap!

…I’m just created this way. LoL. Some dolls smile, others scowl. Doesn’t matter – I love them all. From the sourpusses to the toothache-inducing sweeties, it’s the variety of expressions that keeps my interest in dolls piqued. How boring it would be if every one was the same.

Moody Giselle

Moody Zell

Today’s model is Night Scape Giselle. She is wearing Fashionistas: Sassy Barbie’s dress, shoes and necklace. She’s also wearing her own original earrings and a bracelet from the jewelry section at the craft store (originally sold with a bunch of other ones – all intended for people-sized bracelet enhancements). Her hair has been washed out and brushed and I switched her left hand to the second handspeak one that came with her. Giselle’s photo was taken a couple weeks ago in our back yard in the early morning light.

If you’re reading this, thanks for checking in. I’ve been away longer than intended, but precisely as long as I needed.  Before the break, hubby & I had taken a few day trips down the shore. I brought a hoard of dolls and took so many pictures that I never really did share them all. So I’ll just pick up where I left off…

Eat Your Heart Out, Farrah Fawcett!

Eat Your Heart Out, Farrah Fawcett!

Today’s model is a frankendollie: an Old Is New Giselle head on a Poppy Parker body. She is wearing a Barbie bathing suit – from a Fashionistas clothing pack, I think. In her hair are tiny clips from the dollar store. Her photo was taken at the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey.

Once again, it was hard to choose a favorite, there were so many. If you’d like to see the other ones, just click on my Flickr link.

Um, I’m not sure if I’m going to make it to post here tomorrow. But I don’t think I’ll be gone all that long.
