Here’s the last of the photos from our day at Point Pleasant beach.

Cole Tries Her Luck at the Claw Game

Cole Tries Her Luck at the Claw Game

Today’s model is Painted Black Colette. She is wearing a Fashion Fever Barbie top, Barbie shorts, Barbie sandals and Fashion Royalty earrings. Her photo was taken on the claw game in the arcade on the boardwalk at Point Pleasant, NJ. We had a really great time there.

The beach was great, the boardwalk was fun and the dollie photo ops were incredibly numerous. I have to give a huge shout out to hubby – he indulges me with my dolls – and merely laughs when I haul three beach bags of doll stuff with me for a day at the beach. His encouragement and acceptance are a joy that I am truly grateful for.

Sunshiny Cole

Sunshiny Cole

Today’s model is Painted Black Colette. She is wearing an ensemble from a recent Sporty Fashionistas Barbie fashion set. Her photo was taken yesterday afternoon in the neighbor’s yard. They’ve been busy planting and invited me over to take doll photos among the flowers. How could I resist such a sweet invitation, especially when I spotted that dollie-sized flower cart? Awesome. Colette was a perfect fit behind the wheel.

We were passing through town today and happened upon the second annual Stroudsburg Pennsylvania Ice Festival. Of course, it caught us unawares. There was no dollie and no cameras in the car. Thankfully, hubby was nice enough to head back home so I could quickly dress today’s model and grab the cameras. Back out we went.

In case you didn’t see last year’s photos, the ice festival is a tiny affair – just some ice sculptures placed in front of the local businesses on Main Street. If you get there earlier than we did, you can even see the artists sculpting them. It was not publicized very well unfortunately, last year there was a short story on the news, but not this year. It’s too bad, because although it was cold and windy, I think there would have been more attendees had they known about it.

It was about four o’clock in the evening when we got there, thirty-five degrees, overcast and windy as all get out. There were even snow flurries! Winter is definitely still here. It took about an hour to see everything and take photos. My dollie collected many hearts on her little modeling jaunt. Shopkeepers, kids and adults all stopped and took a peek at her as she went from one sculpture to the next. I even had a few folks taking her photo as she posed on the sculptures. And a couple fans handed off their cameras to me asking me to take a picture of them with my little diva. She was quite popular.

We finished the photo session with a quick stop at Starbucks for a grande peppermint mocha with whipped cream to chase off the chill. LOL, towards the end, I could barely feel my fingers. The wind chill was downright wicked.

The model braving winter’s cold is Painted Black Colette. She’s wearing Crazy Girl Misaki’s zip-up hoodie, a shirt and shoes from some recent Barbie fashion packs and Barbie Basics jeans. Her photo was taken in front of the jeweler’s in the evening, under overcast skies, with the aid of a flash.

LOL, it’s the circle of life. The ice was still wrapping the trees this morning. And then we were treated to some wet snow. But all good things must come to an end. The sun broke out, warmed everything up and it all started to melt away. The woods were alive with dripping sounds and ice cracking and falling from above. Crazy. The forecast is for a refreeze tonight and snow tomorrow.

Erin Watches The Ice Melt

Erin Watches The Ice Melt

Today’s model is Painted Black Erin. She’s wearing a long-sleeved shirt from a Barbie fashion pack, a mini dress borrowed from Monsieur Z’s First Class, Zodiac Barbie’s shrug and a hat from one of Barbie’s Fashion Avenue outfits. Erin’s photo was taken in my side yard in the morning sunlight by an ice encrusted pine tree.

It was a fun day for photos with the ice on everything in the morning and then the sun coming out later. It was so bizarre listening to what sounded like the whole world dripping when the ice was melting. It wasn’t just for fashion’s sake that Erin was wearing a hat – the snow was wet and so were all the drips, but the falling ice was a tiny bit scary. I kept my hood up and tried to avoid walking under the trees with higher limbs. 😉 Both of us made it through the photo shoot unharmed.

I was going through some older photos and found a set of doll pictures that I took last year. I never got around to editing them, so they never made it into my Flickr photostream or onto my blog. So, finally they see the light of day…

The Girls Glimpse A Pair Of Deer During A Stroll In The Snow

The Girls Glimpse A Pair Of Deer During A Stroll In The Snow

Deer sightings are pretty common in my neck of the woods, and it seems almost magical when you spot them walking through the snow. So when I found these lovely miniature deer at the flea market, I knew they’d eventually make it into one of my dollie photo shoots.

Today’s models are Painted Black Erin and Odd Girl Out Colette. Erin is wearing the jacket from wave 2 Dynamite Girls Reese and a Barbie scarf that I got in an Advent gift pack. Cole is wearing a jacket and skirt from a Kari Mitchell fashion pack. I set the scene up in my front yard in the morning after a fresh snowfall last December. I remember that one of the neighbors was outside kinda looking over and I figured they probably thought I was crazy, but, eh, I’ve grown accustomed to that, so it really didn’t matter. 😉 The important thing is just to get the shot and have fun doing it.

It was so cold this morning. How cold was it? LOL, no this isn’t a set-up for a joke. 😉 It was so cold that we had our first frost of the season. I woke up to temps under thirty degrees. And when the sun came up I noticed the telltale sparkles on the fallen leaves. I know how fleeting the morning frost can be, so I grabbed a dollie and ran back out into the icy morning air. It’s so funny trying to take photos of a doll holding a leaf…trying not to drop it… trying to catch the sunlight…trying not to breathe on it… and trying not to handle the leaf by anything other than the stem for fear of melting away the fragile, glittering frost. If a neighbor had looked out the window at me, they’d have laughed or wondered what the heck I was doing. It was cold, but it was so much fun.

Erin Holds A Frosty Leaf

Today’s model is Painted Black Erin. She’s wearing Dynamite Girls Reese’s coat and a scarf that came with last year’s Barbie advent calendar playset. She’s holding a leaf from the yard which, if you look closely, has frost crystals on it. The photo was taken in my side yard in a shaft of early morning sunshine.

Who doesn’t love a Merry-Go-Round? Whenever I see one, I am compelled to take photos, LOL, and go for a ride. I don’t know what it is about them, but I can’t resist. The calliope music, the beautifully sculpted  horses and other animals, the swirling sensation…ah, so wonderful. It will always speak to the  child inside me. I have even ridden one that had a brass ring. You don’t see too many of those any more. I love the carousels, each one is unique and yet familiar.

Carousel Princess Colette

Carousel Princess Colette

My merry, little model is Painted Black Colette. She is wearing a dress borrowed from Sabrina: the Teenage Witch, Forget Me Not Poppy Parker’s shoes and a tiara from the bridal department of Hobby Lobby (it came in a set of four – they are napkin rings). The merry-go-round pony was found at a street fair. Her photo was taken on the lawn, in my side yard, lit by afternoon sunshine.

Did you see the game last night?! Okay, I not only collect dolls, I also watch football…mostly Jets football. And my boys won the playoff game last night against the Cincinnati Bengals 24-14. Lot’s of screaming goin’ on at my house last night, LOL. Oh, how I’m dreaming of the Super Bowl, but we’ve got to get through the playoffs first. Next Sunday, it’s off to San Diego to play the Chargers. Let’s Go, Jets!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Colette takes her Jets fan status seriously. Over the years she’s amassed quite a few pieces of Jets merchandise: There’s a Jets pennant in the background, she’s seated on a mini replica helmet, carries a football from an official NFL keychain and wears her old Vilma jersey (a Burger King happy meal toy from years past) and a helmet from a gumball machine. Go, Gang Green!
