Wishing Everyone A Very Happy Holiday!

Today’s model is Great Pretender Lillith. She is wearing a dress from one of the past grocery store holiday Barbie dolls, Fashion Royalty stockings, shoes from a recent Fashion Royalty shoe pack (only available at the last convention or through the W club/Integrity Toys site), ooak earrings (made by me) and an ooak crocheted hat, scarf  & cuffs (also made by me). The bench was a lucky flea market find. Lillith’s photo was taken in our front yard near sunset yesterday evening.

Yay! Yay! It’s Christmas Day!

When we have snow, I like to enjoy it while it lasts. There’s talk of a warm up on the way, so I’ve been taking full advantage of the sparkly white stuff while it’s still on the ground.

Elly Takes A Walk In The Woods

Elly Takes A Walk In The Woods

This is The Beverly Hillbillies Elly May Clampett Barbie. Mattel gave her the vintage reproduction head mold and body. I just adore her curly hair with the corkscrew pigtails. In addition to her original jeans (I removed the rope belt) she is wearing a LIV dolls coat, an ooak scarf made by me and the boots from the Best Models on location South Beach Barbie gift set. I set her up by a tiny tree in my front yard while the snow was still all frosty and shimmering in the morning sunlight.

The Cold Winds Blow!

And you can’t even see it. In today’s picture, I mean. It’s too dark to shoot without a flash unless utilizing a tripod. And it’s too windy for a tripod. 😦 So even though my doll is outside on the porch with the wind swirling snow all around, you can barely even see it. Bah! Well, if you look really closely, you can see some little specks of snow lit by the flash….and there is some snow accumulating on the tree behind Poppy. But it’s not exactly a “snow scene” shot, ya know? Any way…..

Poppy Bundles Up For The Blizzard

Poppy Bundles Up For The Blizzard

Today’s  model is Coney Island Saturday Poppy Parker. She’s traded in her original fashion for something a bit warmer. She’s wearing a LIV doll’s coat and fingerless gloves, an ooak scarf made by me and Barbie’s jeans and boots. She’s standing (well, actually I was holding her in my left hand – but she’s supposed to look like she’s standing) in front of one of the lighted artificial pine trees on my front porch. It was wicked cold, super windy and massive amounts of tiny, shiny, icy snow were covering me…and blowing in my eyes…and getting my camera wet….Um, suffice to say, it was quite a challenging photo shoot with much need for thawing out afterwards, LOL.

The Forecast Is Calling For Much Accumulation, Massive Winds And Possible “Thunder Snow” – I Kid You Not.

As I’m writing this, it’s fourteen degrees outside and the wind is howling. There are a few glittering snow flurries blowing about outside the window.  I can’t believe how cold it is. And according to the calendar, winter has not even arrived yet.

Gina Chooses A Scarf From The Wardrobe

Gina Chooses A Scarf From The Wardrobe

Today’s model is Deconstruction Sight Eugenia. She has had her hair washed and brushed out. She is wearing Perk Colette’s top (one button in the middle doesn’t close in the back, because she’s more well-endowed than Cole), a Barbie skirt, Fashion Royalty fishnet pantyhose, Versailles Veronique’s boots and Fashion Royalty crystal stud earrings. She is also modeling a scarf that I made. The scarf closet (stuffed with all of my ooak knitted scarves) is a drawer organizer that I found at TJ Maxx. The floor is a holiday placemat from Kohls. I placed a piece of black foam core behind the closet for the wall. The scene is lit with a desklamp and the camera’s flash.

So, I still have a cold. And I’m sick of it. Sick of being sick. Blech! Anyway, when we had those flurries yesterday, I did think to grab another dollie and drag her outside, too. Though I have shared her photo in this outfit before, now she’s also wearing one of my ooak scarves accented with a Fashion Royalty “W” pin. Enjoy.

This morning, as I was having my coffee on the porch, it started to snow flurry. It began with tiny bits of icy shimmer dancing in the cold, weak sunlight and then it grew. The sun lost it’s battle with the clouds and then the snow fell in earnest. The wind picked up and began to swirl the ever-growing multitude of flakes. Fascinating.

Though I am still in the grips of a terrible cold, I could not let this opportunity pass me by. I ran inside and grabbed the doll from yesterday’s photo shoot.  I wrapped one of the new scarves I made around her and zipped back outside.

Here is my favorite of the bunch of photos I took. There are more on my Flickr pages, should you like to see them.

Oh, and the flurries did not last too long. Before I knew it, the snow stopped falling, the sun peeped back out and melted away all trace of what had happened. Almost as if by Faerie Magic, the sparkling spectacle was simply here one moment and gone the next. How lucky I was to have the time to enjoy it.
