Christmas Is Coming

Yup. There’s no denying it. Christmas is coming. Soon. I just spent the day holiday shopping with my mom and my aunt. Great fun. Lots of deals. I love spending time with my family. That’s one of my favorite things about the holidays. I have more shopping trips with family scheduled soon and then cookie baking. And before long, Christmas will be here.

Momoko In Front Of The Tree

Momoko In Front Of The Tree

Today’s model is Wild & Sexy Tune Momoko. She is wearing a Lollipop Girls coat, a scarf I made, mittens that are attached to a Christopher & Banks sweater (sold as a holiday ornament), One Modern Circle Barbie’s trousers and Pop Life Kelly’s boots. She is standing in front of the fiber-optic Christmas tree at my mom’s house. The late evening light coming in the window lights the scene.

Icarus, of Greek myth, flew too close to the sun and perished. A sad story, maybe even a lesson not to become distracted by awe – but I feel otherwise. I can relate to the idea of forgetting all else while basking in the wonderment of the surroundings. What a sight he must have seen before his demise! And if it doesn’t…well, then I learned something, so it’s really not a waste.

Momoko On A Ladder To The Heavens

Momoko On A Ladder To The Heavens

I wasn’t sure this shot would work. My model, Wild and Sexy Tune Momoko, was perched precariously on a ladder I found recently at a church sale. She’s wearing a top & skirt from a new Moxie Girls fashion pack and Barbie shoes. The unpredictable breezes were trying their best to unseat her. I attempted the shot many different ways. First, I had the ladder propped in a cinder block while shooting from underneath. Next, hubby held the ladder while I shot from the side. And lastly, I held the ladder myself in one hand while taking photos with the camera in the other. It was tough trying to get the proper amount of late evening sunlight on the doll’s face while keeping a clear piece of sky framed in the background…oh, and then there’s the pesky task of keeping the shot in focus, too. I wasn’t sure I had any good ones until the photos were downloaded.
