Well, if you saw my last post, then you’ll recognize today’s model. Last time, her photos were taken indoors. But, I find that I really enjoy it when I can go outside and play…..

Fresh Air, Sunshine & Snow!

Today’s photos were taken in our front yard a little over a week  ago. Amazing what a difference moving a photo shoot outdoors makes! I swear my little dollies breathe a sigh of relief when they get to go outside…..well, maybe it’s just me. I do so love to get out there and frolic under the big, blue sky. Ahhhhhhhhhh. 🙂

It’s the first real snow of the season. We’ve been teased with a few flurries here and there before, but that doesn’t count. Anyway, I’m giddy as a kid when the snowflakes start a-flyin’. I’ve had a doll all dressed and waiting (even though it’s not even Thanksgiving yet). So I braved the cold…and ran inside for hot cocoa and spiced cider in between shots.

Today’s model is Summer Magic Poppy Parker. She is wearing a handmade knit cap by Petite Tricot, Dynamite Girls London Calling Kyu’s parka, Crazy Girl Misaki’s t-shirt, an International Barbie Fashion Avenue skirt, Mod Redux Barbie’s tights, a pair of older Model Behavior boots, Trendy Girl Misaki’s fingerless gloves and a one-of-a-kind necklace created by me. Poppy’s sled was a fabulous flea market find. Today’s photos were taken all over our yard while the tiny little snowflakes fell gently upon us.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. When I was younger, I used to think that “wind chill” was a little joke the weathermen made up just to mess with us. I mean, it’s just wind…the actual temperature is what matters. Right? Wrong. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and really feel the cold now, or maybe it’s that I now live up on a mountain in the woods, but I now believe in “wind chill”. This winter has been simply brutal with the wind whooshing up from behind the house and rattling at it like a restless spirit. And as cold as it gets, it’s always worse when the wind is howling.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s model is Elements of Surprise Lillith. She is bundled up against the windy chill wearing a scarf and matching head wrap that I made, Versus Barbie’s jacket, Cali Girl Barbie’s dress, striped armlets (which are actually Bratz Pirate’s legwarmers), leggings from the Barbie Millicent Roberts Going To The Game fashion and My Scene boots. Lillith is pictured riding a sled (found at the flea market) down the hill in our yard in the morning sunshine. Don’t let the sunshine fool ya, it was twenty-something degrees with big ol’ wind gusts a-blowin’. Let’s just say, I took a lot of “warm up” breaks indoors during this photo shoot. 🙂

Oh, Yeah, Wind Chill Makes All The Difference. Brrrr!

I have very few boy dolls. Growing up I can only remember having one, a Donny Osmond doll…he even had the purple socks. LOL. As an adult collector, there are not many that appeal to me. When I first started looking into ball jointed dolls, there was so much to choose from. I’d spend hours cruising the ‘net looking for the right one to be my first. The search ended at the Piposland site with a male anthro cat doll called Pipos Baha. He’s got the coolest expression, a skinny li’l chicken chest, no tail – but the cutest hiney and the sweetest paws with wee pink toe pads and teeny claws.

Horatio Goes Sledding

Horatio Goes Sledding

My Pipos Baha is named Horatio and I just love him to bits! Today he is out on his sled having an adventure in the snow. He’s wearing a hat filched from a stuffed panda doll by Russ, a hoodie sweater from Christopher & Banks (it was a Christmas ornament) and shorts from one of the My Scene Barbie boys. His sled is yet another fabulous flea market find.

To be sure that he’s got everything an adventuring kitty needs, he’s tied down a rubbermaid tote to the back of his sled. The tiny tote was found at Staples. What’s he got in there? Who knows? Blankets, matches, some brandy and whatever else he may need in the frozen wilds. When I took these photos, it was eighteen degrees outside…what a trooper Horatio was…never a complaint. 🙂
