The snow is still piled up all over the place, but it is slowly melting down. We’ll just have to enjoy it before winter subsides to spring.

Today’s model is no stranger, you saw Lilith in the last post here. But she’s buttoned up her jacket, snuggled into her scarf and continues to brave the great, frozen outdoors.

The Icehouse has melted. In the next photos, not much remains.

The world is still wrapped in winter white, but for how long?

Lily’s photos were taken all around our yard on a sunny winter day in early February.

Though Snowy Signs Remain,

Winter Will Soon Surrender To Spring.

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lilith. She is wearing an open-ended ponytail hat crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls: London Calling Kyu’s coat (I love this coat!), FR2 Modern Sensibility Dasha’s tank top, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers, Integrity Toys boots (from one of the Model Behavior girls?) and a pair of gloved hands (not sure who they originally belonged to, really). Lily’s photos were taken in the ice house built in our front yard, in the morning on the first day of February.

I love how the ice house sometimes acts like a light box, diffusing and amplifying the sunlight. The cold had me sneaking in and out of the house to warm up and didn’t lend to spending time changing poses, but I do love the shots I ended up with. Fun times. 🙂

There’s been so much going on this week, I feel like the mayor of Crazy Town. Our washer conked out (hey, it was sixteen years old) and we had to get a new one. Which means dragging the old one out and carrying the new one in. I can tell you, I’m no where near as strong as I’d like to be. I can do it, but I’ll be sore tomorrow. Also, our little boy kitty’s cancer is showing signs of returning, so he’s back on chemo meds. We’ve been having a severe heatwave, so I’ve been running the air conditioning for the cats (my boy’s old and the heat makes him uncomfortable). Problem is, I’m not really a fan of air conditioning – it makes my throat scratchy, I don’t like the noise and I’d rather swelter than close the windows and be all bottled up with AC. So I kept running outside to escape. Anyway, the heatwave broke with severe thunderstorms this evening – hubby got caught in a hail storm on the way home from work. Thank goodness, no damage to him or the car and no hail in our yard. At least our garden’s safe. Bah, there’s more…but that’s enough sharing for now. I’m looking forward to some normal, ordinary, boring days – so if you see ’em, send some my way. 😉

Summer Wild Eden

Summer Wild Eden

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Eden. She is wearing a Watbetty bikini and earrings that I made myself. Her photo was taken in the midday sun-dappled shade of the trees in our front yard on our new garden arch.

We’ve had a few teases of springtime weather, but this morning it was winter all over again. I woke up to a scene straight out of a story book. Big, fluffy clumps of snow covered the trees, weighing them down. We only got a couple of inches, but that’s plenty. It’s stopped snowing since and the big melt is already starting to happen.

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. She is wearing FR2 Dasha’s tank top and jacket, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers and Barbie’s BMR Going To The Game scarf accented with a silkstone Barbie brooch. Her photo was taken this morning in the backyard while the snow was still falling and the clouds were heavy enough to blot out the sun.

I was out taking photos early this morning. The blue skies and sunshine were irresistible even though is was very cold out. I got a dollie ready (in a basic black dress), took a set of pictures and downloaded them right away. I noticed that the lighting was really bright, so I went back out again (after adding a couple more accessories to dollie’s outfit) with a polarizing lens to cut the glare. I took another whole set of photos and came in when the cold got to be too much. I went through and edited all my images and was faced with another problem. Too many to choose from. I don’t know how other people can pick a favorite. It’s very hard for me.

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. Her original handspeak hands were switched for gloved ones. She is wearing a Barbie Basics dress, Fashion Royalty stud earrings and a belt that I’m not too sure where it came from. She’s also wearing Deconstruction Site Eugenia’s shoes, but you can’t see them here. Her photo was taken in my side yard in bright morning sunshine.

There are some things I will never do. Most of them involve extreme (or even some not-so-very extreme) sports. Because the fact is: I’m over forty, I’m a bit uncoordinated (okay, a klutz) and I don’t like pain. My idea of fun, thrill-seeking activities are scoring hard-to-find dolls, catching bargains and witnessing fabulous sunsets. So, you won’t find me at a roller derby, tandem skydiving, surfing or snowboarding. Now, my dolls are a different story – they are little daredevils. Just because I have no desire to risk life and limb, doesn’t mean my dolls aren’t eager to strut their stuff. It’s fun to live vicariously through them while taking photos of them going wild. Most of the time, the danger is simulated and almost no dollies have ever been injured during the making of extreme images. 😉

Lillith Catches Some Freshies And Tries Not To Face Plant Or Rag Doll On The Pow

Lillith Catches Some Freshies And Tries Not To Face Plant

Living up to her name, today’s model is Wild At Heart Lillith. She’s wearing a top borrowed from School Style Barbie, jeans from an older Fashion Avenue Barbie fashion pack and Barbie boots from a fashion pack produced a couple of years ago (they are a really tight fit on Lillith). I also traded out Lillith’s regular handspeak hands for another Fashion Royalty doll’s gloved ones.

I found the snowboard in the toy aisle. It’s made by Mattel, but I think you’re meant to put it on the ends of two fingers…and then you let your fingers do the walking…er, boarding. It has different, switchable braces (the things that hold your fingers or the doll’s boots) one white pair, one red and then a weird black set that have no openings – so boots won’t fit in them. Very few doll boots fit in the braces and look right – so I was lucky to find that these did.

Lillith’s photo shoot took place in my yard in the late afternoon sunlight. It was cold and windy, and I’m afraid Lillith did take a few tumbles. But it was a fun experience and no harm was done.

I love the holidays. We watched some Christmas specials last night. I’ve made plans for shopping trips and cookie baking later in the month with my mom,  aunt and brother. There’s snow in the forecast for later in the week.  I’ve got presents tucked away, awaiting wrapping. There is a feeling of happy anticipation, a willingness to do good deeds and a thankfulness for even the simplest things.

Eden Playing Reindeer Games

Eden Playing Reindeer Games

Today’s model is Wild at Heart Eden.  She is wearing the gold beaded top from Katiana Jimenez Barbie, a Barbie shrug, a My Scene fashion pack skirt, a silkstone Barbie brooch, Barbie earrings, a My Scene Barbie bracelet, Spring in Tokyo Barbie’s necklace and some gold bangle bracelets that are actually jewelry making links from the craft store. Eden is posed on the back of a golden reindeer that I found at Kohls. Her photo was taken in front of my upside-down Christmas tree. I did some more creative tweaking with my camera to keep the scene warm and twinkling with the feeling of Christmas. I used an 800 iso film speed setting, adjusted the white balance to compensate for the lash, lowered the flash strength and put a gauze mask over the flash itself.

I got a new pair of dollies today and I just couldn’t wait to photograph them! I took some pictures indoors with the flash, because it was so cold and windy out. Blah. I didn’t really like the whole “indoors with a flash” result, so I bit the bullet and hauled my dollies outside. Much better…colder, and the wind did present a challenge… but the photos rock! I love shooting outdoors in the sunshine. 🙂

Wild at Heart Lillith and Eden

Wild at Heart Lillith and Eden

Today’s models are the new Wild at Heart Eden & Lillith from the recent Dark Romance Fashion Royalty convention. They are so wonderful! Lillith and Eden are wearing their awesome original outfits, though I think I have the shoes and jewelry switched from how they were originally intended. No matter, my collection is all about playing – not whether or not all the fashion pieces are on the correct dolls, LOL. Head on over to my Flickr photostream if you’d like to see more – I took a ton of pictures.
