So, my brother tagged me for the ice bucket challenge.

Poppy took one for the team…

Today’s model is In the Air Poppy Parker from the Jet Set convention. She’s wearing an older Barbie swimsuit (maybe from the early nineties?). I’m pretty sure the bucket is from Mattel, but I’m not positive since I scored it at a flea market. The bench is a fabulous flea market find as well. Poppy’s photo was taken today in our front yard.

Ugh…I have no excuse for not getting around to the lingering remains of winter doll photos…except that there are just so many.

So, even though it is technically spring, I’m still in winter mode. And I probably will be for a while. What can I say? I still have more winter wonder to share…

The Gang At The Snow Caves

The Gang At The Snow Caves

You’ve already met the models, so see previous posts for the details. But the location is new. After all the shoveling, the snow piles were pretty substantial. Given such an opportunity, I couldn’t resist digging out a cavern and steps for the dolls. When the afternoon sun lit it up, a mess of dolls came out to play. The lighting didn’t last long, but it was enough to grab a few pictures. Woo- hoo!

Winter Still Has A Few Icy Gasps Left

As you can see by the new header on my blog, I am. I’ve been on a creative jag lately – crocheting bikinis and making jewelry for my dolls. So, I nabbed some of Poppy Parker dolls from my collection and dressed them up to show ’em off. We got a sunny day yesterday (Hurray! No rain. It’s been raining nearly every day for ages here.) and I decided to put the good weather to use. I dragged all of them, my cameras and myself outside for photo time.

Today’s models’ names are listed under each image. Their photos were taken on the lower deck in our back yard in the late afternoon. LOL, I loaded them all into a box, set them up and clicked away. It was quite a challenge, shooting thirteen dolls (attempting to pose them naturally and in an interesting way while trying not to knock them over) with the sun beating down on me and a few insects trying to get noticed by this paparazzi (buzz, buzzzz). But, all in all, I’d say it was a success. Kinda makes me want to drag out my Barbie swimming pool and set it up for a full day’s shoot…we’ll see. Anyway, if you want to see more, be sure to visit my Flickr pages via the link on the right.

Maybe it’s because I live in the woods of Pennsylvania, but every time I visit New York City I feel like a country mouse in an urban jungle. The Big Apple’s sleek, shiny citizens seem to march to a high-paced beat only they can hear. Fashion forward women and trendy men zip along effortlessly –  in tune, in step with the heartbeat of the metropolis. The dazzling shop windows and towering architecture temporarily frame them in decadence as they bustle by. I’m always thrilled to visit the city that never sleeps, it leaves me breathless with excitement. But I must admit, I’m just as happy when it’s time to go. Back to the woods, back to the country – watching the grass grow, the leaves turn and the snow fall. A slow, comfortable pace that welcomes me home.

Poppy Parker Takes On NYC

Poppy Parker Takes On NYC

Today’s model is In The Air Poppy Parker from the recent Jet Set convention put on by Integrity Toys. She is wearing the top from a Justin Bieber fashion pack (don’t tell her – she thinks it’s from a designer fashion house ;)) and earrings, bracelets and a necklace all custom made by me. Her photo was taken on the streets of New York, in front of the Louis Vuitton store window display. The little manikins placed in a static march truly enchanted me and I braved being trampled by the masses on the sidewalk getting my shots. I made fast friends with the store’s doorman who enjoyed watching my antics. Who says the folks in the city aren’t friendly? Not me. 🙂
