This year’s latest W club has started off with a bang. Members were offered the opportunity to enter a lottery for the chance to purchase dolls from their latest ITBE collection. In addition to some familiar faces, a new character was introduced: Finley Price. That smile really grabbed me, so I was thrilled when my number was pulled. I’m so glad to add this character to my collection.

I ripped this little cutie outta the box not long after she arrived. I redressed her right away (though I adore her lingerie) and couldn’t wait to share some photos.

I really am liking this new character. Finley reminds me of Cruise Control Vanessa. Like she could be her sister or cousin. She’s got a similar feline quality that I really like about CC Van. And while she’s smiling, it’s not a vapid, empty-eyed psycho look. It’s more subtle and such a nice change from some of the stern and aloof looks possessed by IT’s other characters. Not that I don’t love a good snarl now and again. Just sayin’ I like the variety.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to doing more in-depth photo shoots with Finley, when the proper lighting presents itself.

Finley is wearing MAC Barbie’s blouse, an unidentified faux fur jacket that I picked up at a recent doll show, Barbie Basics jeans, and Integrity Toys belt and Agent Lotta Danger Poppy Parker’s earrings. Her photo was taken yesterday afternoon. The weather here was overcast, foggy and drizzly. Total crap lighting for photos. I didn’t even wander off our front porch. Not my best work by any stretch. But I couldn’t wait to share.

The snow is still piled up all over the place, but it is slowly melting down. We’ll just have to enjoy it before winter subsides to spring.

Today’s model is no stranger, you saw Lilith in the last post here. But she’s buttoned up her jacket, snuggled into her scarf and continues to brave the great, frozen outdoors.

The Icehouse has melted. In the next photos, not much remains.

The world is still wrapped in winter white, but for how long?

Lily’s photos were taken all around our yard on a sunny winter day in early February.

Though Snowy Signs Remain,

Winter Will Soon Surrender To Spring.

Solitary Snowy Solace

Solitary Snowbound Solace

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lilith. She is wearing an open-ended ponytail hat crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls: London Calling Kyu’s coat (I love this coat!), FR2 Modern Sensibility Dasha’s tank top, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers, Integrity Toys boots (from one of the Model Behavior girls?) and a pair of gloved hands (not sure who they originally belonged to, really). Lily’s photos were taken in the ice house built in our front yard, in the morning on the first day of February.

I love how the ice house sometimes acts like a light box, diffusing and amplifying the sunlight. The cold had me sneaking in and out of the house to warm up and didn’t lend to spending time changing poses, but I do love the shots I ended up with. Fun times. 🙂

Blue Snow Day

Did you ever notice, when you’re shoveling snow on a sunny day, that the snow has hints of blue in it – like an iceberg? I seems to happen when the snow is kinda on the heavier side, maybe it’s the high water content? I don’t know. I just think it looks cool. Anyway, that’s what inspired this photo shoot.

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Today’s model is Pure Evil Misaki. She is wearing a scarf and headband crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls Electro Pop Aria’s coat, Crazy Girl Misaki’s t-shirt, Fashion Royalty High Toned Rayna’s skirt, and two pairs of tights – opaque blue borrowed from Barbie and white fishnets that I think once belonged to Poppy Parker or Misaki. She’s also wearing Ciao Japan Misaki’s boots, but you can’t see ’em in this photo. Misaki’s photo was taken last month in our side yard after yet another snow storm. LOL, we seem to get a lot of those…

Well, if you saw my last post, then you’ll recognize today’s model. Last time, her photos were taken indoors. But, I find that I really enjoy it when I can go outside and play…..

Fresh Air, Sunshine & Snow!

Today’s photos were taken in our front yard a little over a week  ago. Amazing what a difference moving a photo shoot outdoors makes! I swear my little dollies breathe a sigh of relief when they get to go outside…..well, maybe it’s just me. I do so love to get out there and frolic under the big, blue sky. Ahhhhhhhhhh. 🙂

We’re well into crunch time – the big day fast approaches. Soon it will be Christmas! I’ve been baking and decorating cookies, the tree has been trimmed and some of the presents are wrapped. I’ve been a busy little elf. We had a bit of snow, too. So, it truly is looking a lot like Christmas in these parts. Amid the hustle and bustle, I even found time to grab a few holiday dollie photos.

Season's Greetings!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Today’s model is Fame by Frame Imogen from the Tropicalia convention. She is wearing an elf hat crocheted by me, a sweater (sold as a tree ornament) from Christopher & Banks, LIV dolls Moolight Dance Daniela’s dress, Barbie stockings, boots from the 2008 “The Heist” convention Life of the Party fashion, Fashion Royalty earrings and bracelets and rings that are actually craft store jump rings from the jewelry department. I also created the wreath myself. It’s fashioned out of green wired holiday ribbon from Walmart and trimmed with a bow from a spool of ribbon found at Michaels in the dollar bin. Imogen’s photos were taken a couple of day’s ago in our yard – the first two in the front yard (in a snow pile that I carved a little path in – and, yes, she is standing on her own…with a little help from the snow. LOL) and the last image was taken in our backyard.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

And A Happy New Year!

Okay, so maybe it’s because the dolls of my childhood always wore the same expressions…happy, smiling faces; eyes filled with mirth and joy…that I’ve grown to adore the wicked ones as an adult. A little disdain, that “I’m so over it” attitude, an evil little pout…that’s the stuff that stands out from the crowd. And nobody does it better than the Baroness Agnes Von Weiss. She is a wonderfully fresh face among the blissed-out crowd – a special doll that doesn’t need to radiate benevolence to be beautiful. Hers is the elegance of a broken glass gaze and razor blade moue. And I love her all the more for it.

Today’s model is Nightfall Agnes from this year’s Integrity Toys’ Premiere convention. She is wearing her original fashion with the addition of a bracelet from Claires (an ear cuff for humans – re purposed to doll scale jewelry) and a necklace assembled by me from craft store jewelry components. I acquired her in a fabulous trade from another collector (thanks, Kimberly!). She sports the new Fashion Royalty body (an updated amalgam of FR & FR2). Her photo was taken in our living room, lit by morning sunlight coming through the glass door with a wooden door sample pressed into service as the background.

Yeah, it’s already autumn. Huh, I don’t know how that happened. The days sure do fly by. But, even though the calendar insists that it’s fall, the weather is still feeling rather summery. So, bear with me..indulge me…in a last celebration of summer.

Today’s models are Promenade Amelie and Misaki. Amelie is wearing Endless Summer Poppy Parker’s swim suit and a dollar store hair clip. Misaki is wearing Sunshine Games Poppy Parker’s bathing suit in the second and third photo and her original t-shirt, Barbie shorts, Endless Summer Poppy Parker’s sneakers and Fashion Royalty earrings and a bracelet in the last two images. The table, umbrella, chair and float are all pieces from an Arco brand Fashion Pool Set that I found at the local flea market. The first four photos were taken at the beach, the last one was taken in a game room on the boardwalk.

A new Poppy arrived (actually three of ’em showed up – but each will get her own moment in the sun separately) and I’m so excited. There’s something about this one that brings to mind the tropics. Though not a perfect likeness, she reminds me of Hedy Lamarr’s character Tondelayo in the 1942 movie White Cargo.

Today’s model is Pretty in Polynesia Poppy Parker from the new line based on the NYC International World’s Fair 1965. Her hair has been released from the threads holding it in place, washed out, brushed  and left to air dry. She’s changed out of her original fashion and is wearing a Barbie: Fashion Avenue halter top and Fashion Royalty bottoms and her sandals are borrowed from one of the Top Model Barbie dolls. The bench is a fabulous flea market find. Her photos were taken in our front yard on a recent sunny afternoon.

As you can probably ascertain from this blog, I am a huge Poppy  Parker fan. The latest series is centered around the 1965 International World’s Fair in New York. And the first of many that I preordered has arrived. Out of five, Japan is the only one I passed on (Sorry, cutie, but I gotta draw the line somewhere.). I had originally only ordered only three…”Spicy In Spain” was the one I was waffling on  – so glad I decided to go for it!

Today’s model is Spicy In Spain Poppy Parker. She is wearing Odd Girl Out Colette’s dress & belt, FR2 shoes from the Jet Set convention, various Fashion Royalty bracelets, Spicy in Spain’s red crystal ring, craft store jump rings – band rings and a pair of earrings that I crafted myself. Her photo was taken in my Mom’s yard yesterday afternoon.
