Holiday Zing

Holiday Zing

Today’s model is ITBE Zing from the Gloss convention. She is wearing Foto Fab Poppy’s dress, a Color Infusion jacket from the 2013 convention Style Lab and holds a matching cocktail (the chopped off top of a drink stirrer found at TJ Maxx). Her photo was taken yesterday by the wreath on our front door.

Blue Snow Day

Did you ever notice, when you’re shoveling snow on a sunny day, that the snow has hints of blue in it – like an iceberg? I seems to happen when the snow is kinda on the heavier side, maybe it’s the high water content? I don’t know. I just think it looks cool. Anyway, that’s what inspired this photo shoot.

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Today’s model is Pure Evil Misaki. She is wearing a scarf and headband crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls Electro Pop Aria’s coat, Crazy Girl Misaki’s t-shirt, Fashion Royalty High Toned Rayna’s skirt, and two pairs of tights – opaque blue borrowed from Barbie and white fishnets that I think once belonged to Poppy Parker or Misaki. She’s also wearing Ciao Japan Misaki’s boots, but you can’t see ’em in this photo. Misaki’s photo was taken last month in our side yard after yet another snow storm. LOL, we seem to get a lot of those…

Yeah, it’s already autumn. Huh, I don’t know how that happened. The days sure do fly by. But, even though the calendar insists that it’s fall, the weather is still feeling rather summery. So, bear with me..indulge me…in a last celebration of summer.

Today’s models are Promenade Amelie and Misaki. Amelie is wearing Endless Summer Poppy Parker’s swim suit and a dollar store hair clip. Misaki is wearing Sunshine Games Poppy Parker’s bathing suit in the second and third photo and her original t-shirt, Barbie shorts, Endless Summer Poppy Parker’s sneakers and Fashion Royalty earrings and a bracelet in the last two images. The table, umbrella, chair and float are all pieces from an Arco brand Fashion Pool Set that I found at the local flea market. The first four photos were taken at the beach, the last one was taken in a game room on the boardwalk.

I climbed trees when I was a kid, much younger than I am now. I remember spending hours just hanging out up in a tree talking with one my neighborhood friends, watching the world go by. LOL, it’s funny how something that seemed such a simple feat back then leaves me shaking my head in wonder now. You won’t catch me risking a fall (and probably painful broken bones) these days. But what I won’t do, the dolls will…

Misaki Up In A Tree

Today’s model is Crazy Girl Misaki. She is wearing Hollywood Nails Barbie’s bodysuit, shorts borrowed from Dynamite Girls: In The City – You Sexy Thing Jasper, Endless Summer Poppy Parker’s sneakers and a Fashion Royalty necklace. Her photo was taken a few weeks ago in my Mom’s backyard, under overcast afternoon skies.

I love to mix things up. I’m not a “dressy-dressy” type person. I don’t know why, but I seem to resist the whole elegant/fancy/classy type looks thing. Maybe it’s just too serious for me. I like a little humor/silliness/opposition…tongue -in-cheek/cheekiness/sarcasm/tomfoolery…..I just can’t help but be a nonconformist. I’m bratty like that.

That’s not to say I won’t swoon over a beautiful gown every now and then. It just means that I’ll probably pair a sequin dream of a dress with pigtails and bare feet. LOL.

Jeannie Sparkles In The Garden

Jeannie Sparkles In The Garden

Today’s model is Crazy Girl Misaki – I’ve named her Jeannie after my Mom. Her hair has been washed out, but still retains it’s original style. (It was a bit stiff with product applied in the factory.) She is wearing an ooak fashion made by Karen Kolkman – a Christmas gift from dear hubby. Her photo was taken in the afternoon in our front garden.

When I’m crocheting things for my dolls, there are times when I can not resist a bit of whimsy. This is the result of a momentary indulgence in silliness…

Misaki's Winter Woolens

Misaki's Winter Woolens

Today’s model is Bonjour Misaki (pink hat version). She is wearing a funny hat that I made – the top is a flower shape, kind of a nod to Dr. Seuss and springtime. She’s also sporting a scarf, caplet ( a snug cape) and a demi-sweater (basically a partial sweater – sleeves  connected across with a neck opening, minus a full bodice for wearing over a corset top)  –  all patterns created and crocheted by me. And to round out her fashion: Model of the Moment Marisa’s corset top (though you can’t see it), Porcelain Beauty Kesenia’s trousers and Checking Out Colette’s boots (you can see the boots in the full length shots on my Flickr pages).

Her photo was taken on February sixteenth during a little late morning snow shower in our front yard.

The 3rd annual Ice Festival was held in downtown Stroudsburg yesterday. I dressed a couple of dolls, charged the camera batteries and went to join in the fun. Unlike the last two years, I showed up at noon just as it was starting. It was much warmer than in the past (forty degrees with low wind and peek-a-boo sunshine) and the crowd of folks walking up and down Main street reflected it. We watched an ice sculptor create a giant frozen chair using chainsaws, drills and chisels. When we got chilly, we popped into Starbucks for Peppermint Mochas and later scored a free hot chocolate at American Ribbon. One of the benefits of the festival is to promote local business, and we indulged in a bit of shopping along the way. As usual, my dolls did garner quite a bit of attention – they fit the whimsy of the festival – and a few folks even had their photos taken with them. It was an all around fun day and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event. 🙂

Our first model is Mint Mod Misaki. She is wearing Clash Control Erin’s sequined dress, Fashion Fever Barbie’s long-sleeved top, opaque black Fashion Royalty tights, Perk Colette’s boots, a hat, scarf and poncho crocheted by me and Ye Ye Amelie’s gloved hands.

Our second model is Poppy Parker from the 2011 hair workshop at the Dark Romance convention. She is wearing a Fashion Fever Barbie jacket, Dynamite Girls: In the City: Good Times Dayle’s mini skirt, London By Night Ayumi’s tights, Outsider Misaki’s boots, a scarf that I crocheted and handmade earrings also made by me.

Their photos were taken in the afternoon hours as we walked up and down Main street. The sun played hide and seek all day, dipping behind the clouds periodically, making for some challenging and rapidly changing photo conditions. The crowds were thick, so my shots were quick grabs in between waves of onlookers. Which is why some of my images lack the polish of my less complicated photo sessions – my apologies.

But it was quite exciting shooting on the fly. I’d spot a sculpture, pre-pose my doll, wait for a break in the waves of tourists, rush up, set up my doll, pull back and grab the photos (bracketing a bit over in the exposures to account for disappearing sunlight, trying with & without flash, watching my shooting speeds to avoid shake) and then snatch up my doll for the next one. LOL, I tried to be as unobtrusive as possible so other folks could take their pictures without waiting for me too long. It was funny – a few thought the dolls were part of the displays, others wanted to take pictures of the sculptures with the dolls in them and some wanted their photos taken with the dolls. It was so cute. Tee-hee! 😀

I hope you had a good time joining me on a virtual tour of the Ice Festival. You can see more photos by visiting my Flickr pages, just click on the link to the right. For best viewing, I suggest finding the “Ice Festival” album on the right and watching it in “slideshow” mode. Enjoy!

Yeah, I’m dubbing this the Nearly Snowless Winter because the white stuff is still in short supply. Another photo from last Saturday…

Misaki In The Snow

Misaki In The Snow

Today’s model is Traffic Stoppers: Stop Misaki. I bought her secondhand, with her hair taken out of it’s original braids. So I gave her a washout, comb dry and put it up in two high ponytails. She is wearing Dynamite Girls: Plastic Inevitable – Heart of Glass Aria’s jacket, a Barbie tank top, Barbie Basics jeans and a crocheted scarf that I made myself. I switched out her hands for Ye Ye Amelie’s gloved ones. Her photo was taken in our front yard.

Every Day A Dollie has become more like Every Now And Then A Dollie, LOL. Yeah, yeah, I’ve been so not in the picture taking mode. But I was totally inspired by one of the new dolls to recently join my tribe. And after a hair washin’, a wardrobe change and some time in front of the camera in our yard – I’m back in the zone. 🙂

Cosmic Love Love Love Her!

Cosmic Love Love Love Her!

Today’s model is Cosmic Love Amelie. She’s from Fashion Royalty’s new Color Infusion line. I can’t say enough good things about her…well the whole line, really. Pure awesomeness. Anyway, Amelie has had her hair washed out and brushed. She is wearing earrings that I got with an ooak fashion on Ebay, a Fashion Royalty necklace and an LIV top. I took her all around the yard and took a mess of photos, so click the Flickr link if ya wanna see more.

Today our cat, Rabbitt, had to be put to sleep. He fought cancer valiantly for over two years, but in the last few weeks, his fatigue was beginning to show. And in the last two days, he let us know he was very tired and needed to move on. In the fourteen years of his life, he brought so much joy into our lives. He was smart, so very smart, agile, an excellent climber, strong willed, quirky and such a love. I million words couldn’t describe how much we love him.

He also loved my dollies. If I put a doll on the floor or the furniture, he would walk over and lay down next to her, claiming her for his own. It was adorable to watch.

Today’s model is Ye-Ye Amelie. She is wearing a track suit borrowed from So In Style Pastry Grace. The photo was taken this afternoon while Rabbitt rested on our Wii board (a favorite sleeping spot for him) in our living room.

Rest In Peace, Rabbitt.
