Ugh…I have no excuse for not getting around to the lingering remains of winter doll photos…except that there are just so many.

So, even though it is technically spring, I’m still in winter mode. And I probably will be for a while. What can I say? I still have more winter wonder to share…

The Gang At The Snow Caves

The Gang At The Snow Caves

You’ve already met the models, so see previous posts for the details. But the location is new. After all the shoveling, the snow piles were pretty substantial. Given such an opportunity, I couldn’t resist digging out a cavern and steps for the dolls. When the afternoon sun lit it up, a mess of dolls came out to play. The lighting didn’t last long, but it was enough to grab a few pictures. Woo- hoo!

Winter Still Has A Few Icy Gasps Left

A Winter Walk

Since wintertime isn’t going anywhere soon, it’s best to just embrace it. Bundle up and take a walk. Admire the sun shining on all that snow. Remember, eventually spring will steal it all away.

The snow adds an air of wintry romance.

A good dose of sunshine makes it all look postcard perfect.

Today’s model is one I used a few posts back, Foto Fab Poppy. Her photos were taken on the street in front of our house, on a sunny day in early February. Yeah, I’m about a month or so behind – just trying to catch up. 🙂

A Slow Melt

The snow is still piled up all over the place, but it is slowly melting down. We’ll just have to enjoy it before winter subsides to spring.

Today’s model is no stranger, you saw Lilith in the last post here. But she’s buttoned up her jacket, snuggled into her scarf and continues to brave the great, frozen outdoors.

The Icehouse has melted. In the next photos, not much remains.

The world is still wrapped in winter white, but for how long?

Lily’s photos were taken all around our yard on a sunny winter day in early February.

Though Snowy Signs Remain,

Winter Will Soon Surrender To Spring.

Solitary Snowy Solace

Solitary Snowbound Solace

Today’s model is Wild At Heart Lilith. She is wearing an open-ended ponytail hat crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls: London Calling Kyu’s coat (I love this coat!), FR2 Modern Sensibility Dasha’s tank top, Urban Outfitting Nadja’s trousers, Integrity Toys boots (from one of the Model Behavior girls?) and a pair of gloved hands (not sure who they originally belonged to, really). Lily’s photos were taken in the ice house built in our front yard, in the morning on the first day of February.

I love how the ice house sometimes acts like a light box, diffusing and amplifying the sunlight. The cold had me sneaking in and out of the house to warm up and didn’t lend to spending time changing poses, but I do love the shots I ended up with. Fun times. 🙂

Sometimes, My Friends,

It’s Very Nice!

Put A Lid On It

A roof has been added to the ice house. Yay! There was trepidation for fear of a collapse, but it was unfounded. Some wet snow was used to seal the joins, and it turned out surprisingly solid. Woo-hoo! Onto the photos…

Snuggle Buddies Cruz & Poppy

Snuggle Buddies Cruz & Poppy

Today’s models are Poppy (…yeah, you saw her yesterday…but today she’s brought a friend) and London Calling Cruz from the Dynamite Girls collection. Cruz is wearing his original trousers, a scarf that I crocheted for him, turtleneck and boots from My Generation Chip Farnsworth III and a Color Infusion: Style Lab Fashion Experiment 5 jacket. Their photo was taken inside the newly renovated Ice House in our front yard on the last day of January.

Come Freeze With Me

Today’s model is the hair workshop Poppy Parker doll from the Tropicalia convention. She is wearing a hat and scarf crocheted by me, a shirt from a Ken fashion pack, a Fashion Fever tunic top (all you see in the photos is the polka-dot ruffled bottom of it), Dynamite Girls: Chill Factor Aria’s skirt, Style Mantra Eden’s tights and a pair of Only Hearts Club doll’s sneakers. Her photo was taken in our front yard within the ice walls that were constructed during our deep freeze of a winter.

This winter has supplied plenty to work with: extreme cold snaps, feet of snow, frost and fog. They all figure in when a photo shoot is planned. Though it’s easy to run from rough weather, taking advantage of it requires a little more finesse. Thinking outside the box….or inside of the ice box really comes into play.

Locked In Winter's Icy Embrace

Locked In Winter’s Icy Embrace

Today’s model is Foto Fab Poppy Parker. She is wearing Sweet in Switzerland Poppy’s furry hat & hand warmer, the jumpsuit from Barbie’s Winter Weekend fashion, a hoodie sweater (originally sold as a Christmas ornament) from Christopher and Banks (a women’s clothing store) and Pure Evil Misaki’s boots.

Poppy’s ice enclosure was made by freezing water in baking pans with a raised edge. Each frozen panel was placed (taller side up) in the snow to create walls and then were secured with a “mortar” of snow mixed with water to seal the joins. I froze the pans of water during a cold week near January’s end when the days stayed below freezing and the nights were in the teens or single digits. It was an ambitious plan, but it made an otherwise unbearably frigid week or so something to look forward to.

Poppy’s “ice house” was constructed in our front yard and it caught the sun’s brilliance for most of the day. It was interesting to watch the changes in illumination as time ticked by; glowing with the morning light shining through it, highlighting the clarity and opacity of the ice and then glimmering, sparkling in the afternoon sunshine. Poppy’s photos were taken under both of these conditions in the images here. I took quite a few, so you can see more by clicking on the link to my Flickr pages.

Winter’s Mystery –

A Snowflake

Blue Snow Day

Did you ever notice, when you’re shoveling snow on a sunny day, that the snow has hints of blue in it – like an iceberg? I seems to happen when the snow is kinda on the heavier side, maybe it’s the high water content? I don’t know. I just think it looks cool. Anyway, that’s what inspired this photo shoot.

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Misaki in Shades of Blue

Today’s model is Pure Evil Misaki. She is wearing a scarf and headband crocheted by me, Dynamite Girls Electro Pop Aria’s coat, Crazy Girl Misaki’s t-shirt, Fashion Royalty High Toned Rayna’s skirt, and two pairs of tights – opaque blue borrowed from Barbie and white fishnets that I think once belonged to Poppy Parker or Misaki. She’s also wearing Ciao Japan Misaki’s boots, but you can’t see ’em in this photo. Misaki’s photo was taken last month in our side yard after yet another snow storm. LOL, we seem to get a lot of those…

A Wonderful Winter

We are having quite a lovely winter here in the Poconos. There is plenty of snow, ice and cold weather. Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow a few days ago, confirming that winter weather will hang around for another six weeks. Yay!!

Today’s model is Tears Go By Poppy Parker. She is wearing the jacket from a Cher Barbie doll, Sassy Stripes Misaki’s sweater, Fashion Royalty leggings, Making a Scene Erin’s boots and one-of-a-kind earrings made by me. Poppy’s photos were taken in our yard on a snowy day in the middle of January.

Going Out

Well, if you saw my last post, then you’ll recognize today’s model. Last time, her photos were taken indoors. But, I find that I really enjoy it when I can go outside and play…..

Fresh Air, Sunshine & Snow!

Today’s photos were taken in our front yard a little over a week  ago. Amazing what a difference moving a photo shoot outdoors makes! I swear my little dollies breathe a sigh of relief when they get to go outside…..well, maybe it’s just me. I do so love to get out there and frolic under the big, blue sky. Ahhhhhhhhhh. 🙂
